Basic generic map using none of your own content. It's okay, but pretty uninspired compared to the many gems of HL1 maps out there, including Halla itself.

Hate to be bitch but its easy to forget there were so many great custom maps made for CS: http://lanmaniax.com/pimpage_old.htm#recommended

Yeah paths have changed: It is now (old episode1 version) at: ..\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\studiomdl.exe

so a bit of common sense tells you that it would now be

    %sourcesdk%\bin\ep1\bin\

    correct me if I'm wrong?

    Yeah paths have changed:

In the good old days when things made sense, studiomdl.exe was at: ..\sourcesdk\bin\studiomdl.exe

It is now (old episode1 version) at: ..\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\studiomdl.exe

'oh what man's back do I recognise that symbol from?'

btw album art is fairly decent for that style I guess, very generic though, but then that genre is very ... generic

I'm really really disappointed they stuck with that slot class system, it really was a game ruining thing for me, because I tend to join almost full servers with ~24 max limit, play for 30 mins then quit (I have limited patience for games!) but with INS this means I drop into those worthless engineer/sapper, rpg or sniper slots. hfdskfhsd. That said, I'll give it a try.

Those people sacrificed a big part of their spare time, in which they could have gotten laid.

I have seen game devs before and I dispute that

I was probably one of the biggest half-life fans around, played every mod under the sun and worked on one until recently but somehow I can't find myself caring.

Now that they're done they should start again in Source.

There is a way to go around it:

1.On the Main Menu Bar go to Tools>Options

    2.Click the "General" Tab

    3.Uncheck "Use VGUI Model Browser"

THANK YOU THANK YOU. That was pissing me off no end!

Both the ep1 and orangebox versions of studiomdl.exe work fine for me. orangebox version pops up all kinds of weird warnings and runtime errors but still seems to compile okay

If you're using the orangebox version did you use -nop4 ?

  • Open Source Game development?

I actually downloaded and played Nexuiz today, yeah my Steam is out of action, I don't own any non-steam games and I was bored.

It was impressively well made, engine and interfaces seemed smooth (though the interfaces looked like they were designed by 80s d&d nerds) but the in-game content was pretty poor. Mostly pitiful maps (tho I did eventually get to one that looked passable) and the characters were meh. Best thing about it were the weapons & weapon effects, it got quite 'pretty' when there was a lot of action on the screen.

Probably won't play again though, gameplay was just tedious dated deathmatch, I mean even something like the Tribes (1) demo, free and 6? years old mops the floor with it.

The origin in all 3D apps is usually the centre of the grid (0,0,0) so simply move your model so that the part you want the origin to be at lies on (0,0,0).
