DM_Subway is a map based on HL2. The map takes place in City 17. This sector of the city is still over ruled by Combine forces, but not if the rebels have anything to do with it. The Combine regiment must defend their part of the city to maintain the control for doctor Breen's plans. Rebels must gain control of this area in order to utilize the subway systems to escape City 17. Who's side are you on?

I made this a long time ago when i was a noob so if its ugly im sorry. Just posting my maps here.

ok,architecture is at some places pretty dull (first exterior pics), lightning is also pretty blend. interiors however are nice!

    and as Ilr says:

    cl_drawhud 0

    r_drawviewmodel 0

    (just a tip)

my suggestion would be to try and add a little contrast to the whole scene with some more interesting lighting and to make the building more appealing by adding a bit more detail and depth to them (exterior part). The streets need a little more props and since its an industrial map, you might want to add more vehicles and adds.

    succes!

oh, and i know this is a wip, but i assume you want comments on this so here you go

yepp love feedback My skill level was much lower when I was working on this (see asylum for the now) but I think I might redo it.

Well the rail car flew off the tracks and into this area for no reason. I made it so the car is traveling and a bomb hitts on the surface and shakes the area it falls knocking it down and the train derails... just trying to make it a little better then the orginal.

The name is temp.. till I can come up with a good one.

The map is very large and is about 40% done.

a few of the shots here are wip empty areas and such that still have not under gone detailing and such... take a peek. no cube maps in these shots sorry having a small issue. I stopped work on this a age ago and think its total crap now... MY skill from this project has gone up. see asylum, but yea thought id show anyhow.

    uh? why not?

Not many mods specialize in static useless environments. Not to say this doesn't look good - it does. But I use to do the same thing, make completely superficial environments and then wonder why no one was impressed. Truth be told, maps at the end of the day are for playing.

This is compounded by the fact that you don't have custom stuff in, a small environment with all custom materials then things would still be different. Still, the question remains to those interested in your work "why can't he make it a map?"

I've played your SP stuff, I know you're capable of it. Put this in a map or make something of the same quality in map scale - thats something really meaningful.

ahah oh alright i gottcha... I dont make mulltiplayer maps though... not anymore. no one plays them... They rather play fy_cubeiceboxglassworld_beta23_alpha6 Ill be doing a mod again sooner or later... funny u bring up my mod.. That was mapped like shit and rushed. No where near the lvl of this or what I can do now. I want to build stuff to show my pure skill yet i dont want them to be MP and this would never work out as SP... its all for fun. I thought if i show mods what i can build they would want me? not the case i guess?

Err that's what I mean - this won't be of any use for a portfolio. Neither for a career as artist, designer or for applying at a serious MOD team.

I think your time would be better spent creating the scene with a 3D modeling package OR incorporating this into a playable level, because otherwise it is solely created for the purpose of fancy screenshots..not sure how far this will get you.But hey if you just do it for fun go knock yourself out

I much prefer the destroyed route. So much so, I would say that it should get a bit more of a battering. It will then give you the opportunity to make each half look different, since at the moment, it looks as though one side is more or less a clone of the other. Possibly smash some of the windows, brick up a couple of the others, and put some bent corrigated iron over another, with wood holding it on. The stairs also look cloned (due to the textures), and they might also benefit from being displaced.

More weathering/declas on the textures, different brick textures on the chimneys, and possibly even the upper portion. Drain pipes and wires could also look good.

If you could make a map with buildings of this quality, you would be on to a winner

all of those are kick ass suggestions and i will do some edits that u posted to it when i need to use it join a mod or somethign of the sort.. as of now its done and im doing a different harder building.

What if everything that went wrong on "A Red Letter Day" was not caused by what you thought? What if your teleport ripped a hole in space and time? Now you must travel through time to correct the events and set right your past.

    Causality Effect

“A Red Letter Day Gone Wrong”

It’s been 4 months or since I started my Single Player mod. So it’s finally done. Well what can I say now…… Hope you enjoy it. I put Easter Eggs in every map and there are four different endings to get by killing different people during the boss fight. There are FPS issue spots and I am sorry for this, but ill admit that unlike other mods out there. Just try to have fun and take your time. No need to rush a great thing. GO PLAY!

i like it a lot, however some of you buildings are too boring. specifically in the first picture that building to the left has the same window 100 times over and looks super fake. get some variation in there, balconies, cracks, wires, drains etc. you should also add roof tops to all of your buildings, be it a flat slab wider than the building, angled or what ever, it makes things look much better. you should focus on walls in addition to placing crates on the ground. otherwise the map looks great and i love a good sp map

Yea all great suggestions... as for the building with the textures that are all the same that was a old shot.. its all fixed up now.
