texture and model look great but looks like you coulda used space on your UV map more efficiently.. a bit of it is wasted right now. Probably should try to make sure most of the space on the texture sheet is used in future models you make.

but the texturing is looks good man.

looks good pomperi! Whats up with that diagonal texturing going on there though? Looks like the unwrap is like skewed to cause the texture to make it like that... or you coulda painted it like that im not sure lol.

I don't think Double Dash actually innovated or changed much, sure you could have two people on one cart...but who ever used that? Everyone just plays by themself with a CPU vs their mates and CPU's.

lol we used to use that.

so it's all comin down to the game is only slightly changing not really innovating but more refined without losing touch with it's past iterations.

I also like to see old class tracks either reinvisioned (rainbow road) or just revisited like the basic track you always get reminiscent of like the mario loops.

I guess it really has become a nostalgic series.

lol see I'm with you Thrik.

I have such fond memories of playing Super Mario Kart with my dad that they probably have me for life.. but I guess that's where you guys have a point.. it's not really innovating upon itself too much with this one (so it seems.. unlike Double Dash).. and it's more appealing to people who already know the game and know what to expect and hey guess what? it's online now.

man some mario kart hate on this forum

I think it looks like a decent sequel.. though after this I can't really see them doing anymore with this franchise... mario kart galaxies? racing spaceships or something?

    What i see different is:

    -new items

    -new tracks

    -new vehicles

-online play (this one being the reason to buy I would think)

yeah DS mario kart has online play but I dont really like the interface of that online playing.

you can copy the displacement you have and paste it in a new empty map and file>export to .dxf which 3ds max can open. That's how I do it.

I love this almost justbecause of its atypical setting. If not for it's orgasmic beauty.

congratulations on making a fine product of a map!

    looking pretty nice KIIIA,

Not sayin you can't use photo sources but you may get a better result if you try to paint them yourself.

As of right now for this beta, the image lacks needed detail. All the green grass kinda runs together. The leaves of the trees, which look kinda interesting, dont seem to look like they took a lot of time and effort into the specific look of them.

The flowers stem looks a little fat to me as well.. but thats an easy fix.

Another thing is that the image would benefit from more color variation. Nice mixes of greens and blues and maybe some volumetric light through the trees adding a warm yellow/brown to the scene etc.

Just suggestions, I know it's a beta image like ya said.. and a pretty nice one to start from at that.. Can't wait to see the finished one.

no I am not actually, haven't ventured into HDR yet but I plan to give it a shot to see how it looks cause yeah it should spice up the lighting that much more if I can pull it off right.

well now it is historically accurate I guess!

Zaph, I think inside media advertisements aren't supposed to get you to consciously think "Oh well I had a fight inside a Philips building I think I'll buy their TVs" but more of like the brand is put in your mind.. and you may.. just maybe will think of them first since that electronics company is fresh on the mind. That's pretty much how it is for most of the seemingly obscure ad placement in movies and tv shows.

I like this set a bit more than the ones before.

Is that a lot of noise in that first shot?

lol I was thrown off on scale at first, "man thats one really small forklift!" then I saw it for it's true proportions...

Looks very nice and pretty (as much as a muddy mine can). I think I'd play with either the floor mud/dirt/rock texture color or the lighting color though (maybe a slight orange?)

He may be right though.. the colors do seem a bit noncohesive as a full together color scheme. It may be that the walls have a more desaturated pinkish flow and the floor is more saturated and doesnt quite match.

I tried to find a good example on google.. none were very good.. but usually the colors work for each other overall.

I think some of the problem will go away when ya add in more props/brushwork into the rooms as well.

A nice start to the theatre.
