Have I mentioned before that I'm from Portugal? Because, yes, 23€ is expensive atm. Maybe it's too much information but i earn around 570€ per month, once the new budget is approved it's going to drop to around 500€. My car loan for example costs me 210€ per month, add to that fuel and other expenses, I usually end with around 100€ at the end of each month to spend on stuff, so like I said before, yes it's expensive, when you put it into perspective. It's a big difference for me having to pay 10€ or 23€. I don't own any new AAA games because I can't afford them and I don't like pirating games, so I usually have to wait for steam discounts.

    (fuck that's depressing)

Yeah, it probably doesn't make much sense for you guys, but I think that for games like this the appropriate price is around 10€ or 15€, I don't think that complexity is really a factor to make the price higher than that, at least not for me. The current price falls out of my impulse buy range and makes me have to think a bit more if I should buy it or no.

I guess living in Portugal atm is starting to change the way I value games since we're all poor and shit (really, we now are going to have to deduct 18% of our salaries to welfare, it used to be 11%, yay!)

I still think that the game is too expensive. I love NS but I'm going to wait until the price drops or there's a promotion, i just don't think it's worth 23€.

And since CS:GO was mentioned, CS:GO costs 11€, less than half of what NS2 costs.

Players like f0rest and Ne0 will be irrelevant in this game.

Erm... you haven't been flowing any CS:GO tournaments I presume? Cause Get_Right and f0rest are still kicking ass and doing amazing individual performances. They won every match so far and most of them by a really big margin (more than 8 rounds of difference).

About tomorrows game, Paulo Bento announced today that Hugo Almeida will be the striker so that means we will play with our standard lineup but with Hugo Almeida instead of Helder Postiga. There's also a rumor that we might play with Ronaldo in the middle and either Varela or Quaresma on the left and Nani on the right, it that was true i think Spain wouldn't stand a chance, but I don't think it's going to happen. Anyway I'm certain it will be a great match, I don't think we're going to win bu we might get a tie if we're lucky and then Ronaldo misses the penalty and we loose

The Portuguese media are also saying that the ref that was chosen for the game might cause some problems since he is Turkish and for some reason Turkish refs usually favor Spain. I really don't care who the ref is, but it might make the game a bit ugly since our players don't deal that well with bad ref decisions

    Taken from wikipedia:

On June 18, he also officiated the Euro 2012 match between Italy and Ireland where he was very precise when it came to ensuring the correct distance from the ball to the defenders' wall, though he also angered the Irish by sending off Keith Andrews one minute before the end of the game. He was not selected to referee a quarter-final game but he was 4th referee in England-Italy quarter-final. Next day he selected to Portugal-Spain semi-final match in Euro 2012.

Portugal vs Czech - Portugal, but not by much, although so much depends on how well Ronaldo plays; if he doesn`t perform than Czech have a chance I think. Also, I feel the need to point out Postiga is a useless striker, and his substitute Oliveira is hardly any better... Portugal could benefit somewhat from a decent striker

Everyone around here says the same thing about our strikers. We've 3 strikers (besides Ronaldo that does that position once in a while), Hélder Postiga, Hugo Almeida and Nélson Oliveira. Hugo Almeida (he is the one who replaced Postiga when he got injured in this last mast) is the biggest turd of the three, he just ruins all the chances we create and everyone hates him, but statistically speaking he is the best one (dunno how...). Postiga is far better, and although he doesn't score (i think he has one goal so far) just having him there allows Ronaldo to score more goals. About Nelson Oliveira, I don't know how much people know about him but he played on the Sub-19 Euro last year (where Portugal finished second) and he was the revelation player of the cup, he plays for S. L. Benfica (it's his first year on the main team) and has done some amazing games on the Portuguese League and Champions League, the problem is that he is still very young (20), unexperienced, and he is not a real striker (yet), he usually plays as a second striker, but he is the fastest and more technically advanced of the 3, he just needs some more time. He is playing on this years Euro because everyone believes that he will be our next star player and we really need to have a world class striker.

The main thing that pisses people off about the strikers is that we've other strikers that are much more efficient that weren't called by the coach, like for example Nuno Gomes, Ricardo Vaz Tê or Danny. But whatever, we've Ronaldo heh

About the game, it wasn't our best game (I blame it on Hugo Almeida), but as usual Nani (word around here is that Mourinho wants him in Real Madrid), Ronaldo, Coentrão and Pepe played amazingly well and got us the win. João Moutinho was also great this time, but it seems like we can never have a game where all our 3 midfielders play well, Meireles for example did a really poor game (he was the one that was always trying long distance goals and failed miserably).

Anyway we're now on the semis waiting for either Spain or France, we've rivalries with both of the teams so whoever wins it will certainly be an exciting match

Why even ask? It's easy to hate Portugal, especially if you're Dutch. You don't remember the last game between Holland and Portugal?

Only 2 of the players who played in that match (Ronaldo and Postiga) are still in our team this year, so it's basically a new team, stop hating us!! we're all poor and shit

Anyway, it was a great match, Ronaldo was phenomenal, lets hope that he keeps playing like that. Pepe was great as well, he is probably the best centre-back in the world atm. Also I'm tankful that Nani was injured for half of the season since he is in great shape now an eager to show what he can do. And finally what an amazing pass from João Pereira to Ronaldo on our first goal!

I think that the biggest problem with Netherlands is the defense, they did a great job in the offense (a couple of missed shots, but they created lots of opportunities), but that defense... they where really freaking bad.

Why all the hate against Portugal?

I don't get why people say that our players are always whining, we don't do it any more or less than players from other teams.

Anyway I'm still confident that we will reach at least the semi-finals

And really bad result for Italy, even if they win the last game they might not get through to the quarter-finals! What a shame.

Portugal had to play a very defensive game against Germany which is not what the team is used to do (well except for Raul Meireles from Chelsea ), it was the only way we could get a decent result considering our midfield sucks and our strikers (except for Ronaldo but he rarely plays as a striker with this coach) don't score any goals. Most of our chances came from our wingers (mainly Ronaldo and Nani) and from Fábio Coentrão (left back) who played amazingly well.

I'm guessing we will play more open and aggressive on the next game. Also hoping that the coach changes the midfield, and that he uses Nelson Oliveira as a striker from the beginning since he is the only striker we've that can actually score a goal.

Anyway, this Euro is being great so far, some really nice games and interesting results. I'm betting on Greece, Russia, Germany, Portugal (fingers crossed), Spain, Italy, France, and probably England (although they're not playing that well I think they're still miles away from either Sweden or Ukraine) as the ones moving on to the quarter finals. As for the semi finals, Portugal (we're going to play against Russia probably, and I think we can easily win that game) Germany, Spain and Italy. And for the final, imo it will be Spain against Germany, with Germany winning.

About the gradient it seems like in the tutorial they used a radial gradient and yours is linear, so you've to change that (i believe that's in the top left corner, there should be a dropdown button there that allows you to change the type of gradient).

The second question, it seems like your image has no transparency? your background is white, so you're basically painting white on white, while on the tutorial the background is transparent.

i'm just kind of tired of zombies. they were cool back in the day but it just seems like such an overused concept now. i'd rather see something new and interesting. or even better, a game that is only about survival without any form of antagonist(s)? hella more interesting than zombies.

Are you for real? All enemy archetypes are overused. It's the fiction behind them and the traits of them that differ in games. Here is the list of every enemy in every game. No one has thrown out anything new in decades.

    Humans

    Monsters (zombies are here)

    Aliens

    Robots

    Animals

    Mutants

    There you go.

That kind of proves his point tough. By your example zombies are a type of monster, so why do zombies have to be used so many times? Why not werewolves or gargoyles? I haven't seen many games with vampires for example (not the sparkling kind ). A well made vampire hunter game would be great. You've Van Helsing (fps with vampires and crossbows!), Buffy (something similar to Tomb Rider but with vampires), Blade (Batman: Arkham City with vampires), the Winchester Brothers (Co-Op western with vampires), etc, they would all make kick ass games. The folklore behind vampires and vampire hunters is much richer than must of the themes used in games so the possibilities are endless.

    hahaha, this actually worked!

That means it's just a simple DNS block, so nothing to worry about

Ant there's an evens easier way to access the site, just use the server IP instead of the domain name, for example http:\\194.71.107.15 or http:\\194.71.107.50 (URL Tags don't work with IPs in the URL?)

If it's just a DNS block you can switch the DNS servers on your router/modem and you don't have to worry about anything. Just go to your router/modem configuration page, locate the DNS settings page, change it from automatic to manual and use the server 8.8.8.8 as primary and 8.8.4.4 as secondary. These are Google open DNS servers which are usually faster than the ones provided by your ISP and are not censored, at least not yet.

Also did the ISPs just block thepiratebay.org? because TPB has switched to thepiratebay.se a while ago, maybe that one isn't blocked?

And you can always use a VPN service, just be sure that you choose one that doesn't keep any logs (that's how some of the lulzsec guys where caught). See which VPNs are safe here:

In my opinion you should try to get some lessons even if it's just an online course. It's not easy to learn how to code by yourself, you will end out missing lots of basic principles like design patterns, common algorithms and data structures, memory management, etc. Also codding is one of those things that requires a different kind of thinking, you'll struggle a lot to get to a point where coding is almost instinctive and you can look at a problem and immediately see how to turn it into code, it takes lots of practice and patient until it "clicks".

Nevertheless I would recommend that you start with C# since it allows you to easily build windows applications and uses the .net framework. Also the syntax is similar to other C variants (C, C++, Objective C, etc) and Java, so it makes it easier to switch to other languages if you need. Try to build some simple desktop applications in C#, look for example at Project Euler for some codding challenges, or go to open source repositories (like sourceforge or github) try to read the source code from some open source projects and implement it yourself (don't copy-paste) to try to understand how everything works. If you have any questions go to Stack Overflow or Code Project (you will also probably come across Experts Exchange many times and end up in a pay well asking for money to see the answer to the question, but if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page the answer is there without having to pay).

This is all so that you can get comfortable with codding, once you start "felling it" try to switch to other languages that use different principles to see what their advantages are, and after all that start to look at game engines and build something with them.

Eye sight getting worse due to bad light conditions has been debunked for a while. It's an urban legend parents tell their kids to stop them reading under the blanket when they were supposed to sleep.edit: Furyo what you talk about is probably CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome) which is only temporarely and doesn't damage the eye.

It's funny that the CVS article on wikipedia says on the first paragraph that "These symptoms can be further aggravated by improper lighting conditions (i.e. glare [1] or bright overhead lighting) or air moving past the eyes (e.g. overhead vents, direct air from a fan)."

Don't the companies you guys work at have work safety and hygiene inspections/audits? Because the very first thing they do is an illuminance measurement. Besides having a bad chair bad light conditions are the worst thing for some one that works with a computer all day. It's not normal to get to the end of the day with red eyes, headaches and blurry vision. If that happens to you make sure that the office lights brightness matches the brightness of your screen. You would be dumb not to do it.
