Like Reno said, most people here deal mainly with Source, but Unreal is probably your best bet if your interested in a game job. Editable UE3 games are about to start popping up everywhere, So I'd get a head start with learning Unreal. Get you a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004 and make some maps. ![]()

I thought this kind of belonged in this thread.
"The honest scientist, like the philosopher, will tell you that nothing whatever can be or has been proved with fully 100% certainty, not even that you or I exist, nor anyone except himself, since he might be dreaming the whole thing. Thus there is no sharp line between speculation, hypothesis, theory, principle, and fact, but only a difference along a sliding scale, in the degree of probability of the idea. When we say a thing is a fact, then, we only mean that its probability is an extremely high one: so high that we are not bothered by doubt about it and are ready to act accordingly. Now in this use of the term fact, the only proper one, evolution is a fact. For the evidence in favor of it is as voluminous, diverse, and convincing as in the case of any other well established fact of science concerning the existence of things that cannot be directly seen, such as atoms, neutrons, or solar gravitation...
"So enormous, ramifying, and consistent has the evidence for evolution become that if anyone could now disprove it, I should have my conception of the orderliness of the universe so shaken as to lead me to doubt even my own existence. If you like, then, I will grant you that in an absolute sense evolution is not a fact, or rather, that it is no more a fact than that you are hearing or reading these words."

It seems they are trying to sneak this one in there.

Quote from TomWithTheWeather
I'm currently digging Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Two very good and expertly written books.
Upon finishing them and analyzing them a little bit, the underlying, psuedo-philosophical themes kind of suck. It all seemed cool at first, until I realized it's based on emotion, rather than reason; sort of like Scientology. Objectivism provides nothing more than easy answers to non-black-and-white social questions, in the same way that fundamentalist Christanity does.
Just thought I'd update my opinion of these books for anyone re-reading through this thread.

"Imagine: you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is "to conduct physical and spiritual warfare"; all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven by a purpose: you are 13 years old. You are playing a real-time strategy video game whose creators are linked to the empire of mega-church pastor Rick Warren, best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life.
The game, slated for release by October 2006 in advance of the Christmas shopping rush, has been previewed at video game exhibitions, and reviewed by major newspapers and magazines. But until now, no fan or critic has pointed out the controversial game's connection to Mr. Warren or his dominionist agenda."
What's funny, even Jack Thompson doesn't like it.
"It's absurd," said the video critic. "You can be the Christians blowing away the infidels, and if that doesn't hit your hot button, you can be the Antichrist blowing away all the Christians."

Looks like the pyhsics freaked out. I've seen it happen in HL2, among other ragdoll games. I like how it made a lot of blood though.

That would be A comes from B, therfor B comes first.
Too bad:
An egg is layed by a chicken, therefor the chicken comes first.
That would be B comes from A, therefor A comes first.
So logically youre logic deducting skills are illogical.
Not all eggs are laid by chickens

Not all eggs hatch chickens

God created/materialized the Chicken on the fifth day (though it can't fly very well, so he probably should have created it on the 6th day) and gave it the ability to continue to reproduce via pooped-out external egg, therefore the chicken came first.

He drops water balloons also.

Company picnic, then back to crunch at the office.
