Ah, the double-edged sword of photography. There is no more conflicted feeling than having hundreds of awesome photos, only to realise you can't bear to publicise them until you've lovingly processed each and every one. ![]()

Lovely photos, wish I went to more beautiful environments like that. Really like the military shots too, the colour is very well controlled in those.

Man that portfolio is bad. Even the image pop-up thing is unintuitive and confusing to use, I could barely work out how to close the damn thing. Just goes to show how a pretty good candidate with decent art can be completely ruined by a badly presented portfolio.

I'm really liking the look of this world. In trailers it's a bit much to take in, but I'm sure once you start walking around it and instead of music there's just the atmosphere of the environment it'll feel awesome. BioShock had one of the most well-realised and immersive settings I've ever experienced, joining the ranks of Black Mesa and Shadow Moses Island — seems there's definitely a link between isolation and my favourite game worlds. Really hope this sequel recaptures that magic.

YouTube URLs should just work if you paste the URL by itself on its own line, think if the format is a little weird it breaks it though (eg: https instead of http as AtsEst noticed). Will try to fix this along with everything else.

And yeah, really hope this lives up to the excellent original. The sequel got a lot of things right, but the climax felt so rushed and I just felt kind of cheated by the end of it.
Edit: OK, that should do it.

I hope you stopped off at the royal armouries museum, I could spend days in there.
Will have to do that next time.

Went to the UK's biggest zoo (AFAIK) last week, took a crazy amount of photos but the red pandas (also known as the firefox) were the highlight — holy shit these things are cute and hilarious to watch.

Very saddened to hear this KFS, but with all that talent oozing out every pore you'll be sorted out again in no time.

Finally decided to put a little time aside for this cultured, sophisticated experience.

Only about halfway through I think, but I'm really enjoying it. Exploring this vast world and slowly uncovering its backstory to music so beautiful you can't helped but be moved by is a wonderful experience. It's easy to write off games like this as pretentious and up their own ass, but in this case it really is as elegant and — dare I say it — artful as the hype implied.
I was surprised by how the momentum has started to be seriously dialled up halfway through. I won't ruin it for those yet to play it, but I will say that if you imagine this game to be just strolling around a desert solving abstract puzzles then that's selling it very short. It has numerous environments all equally beautiful, and the atmosphere changes quite substantially in a fairly sinister way as the world reveals the story of what actually happened to it.
Highly recommended! I thought the team's previous game Flower was an intriguing but completely missable game, but this is something everyone should experience. Not everyone will enjoy it (I know some of my more dudebro-minded friends are unlikely to give it more than a few minutes), but for those disposed towards liking this kind of thing it's likely to be a highlight of the generation.

OK guys, just as a warning I'm going to be doing a bunch of stuff on the forums during the next few days so we can finally get articles coming out more regularly (Big thanks to those who've talked to me privately about contributing!) and resolve a number of issues and bugs brought up in this thread and elsewhere.
As such you might notice brief moments where the forums don't load or everything looks completely messed up, as I have to do the work on the live forums (setting up a whole test environment is more work than it's worth right now).
Hopefully I'll avoid it being noticeable but if you spot some far-out weirdness like a bright red sidebar just assume it's part of the changes.

That's even worse than when I got to practically the end of Metal Gear Solid 3 before discovering the CQC for throwing enemies to the floor and knocking them out instantly. Sure made that game a lot harder.

-
Haha. I'm still waiting for the train simulator that lives up to this epic trailer myself:

I might give some of the current-gen Halo games a try. I really didn't enjoy the original, but that was a long time ago and comparatively basic when put next to its successors I imagine.
-
Haha.
I've never actually played any of the Halo games after the PC version of the original, which I thoroughly disliked. Am I really missing out on that much?

-
Haha, reminds me of World Builder. Not as good but still amusing.

Fffffuck this game looks so good. Gonna pick it up this weekend.

Ah, OK. If it's only affecting threads you haven't visited since the new software was implemented I don't think there'll be any round it, as the 'last unread' data probably didn't survive the conversion — at least not all of it. It sounds like the 'there is a new unread post in this thread' data made it, but the specific page to take you to didn't.
A possible way to stop this continuing to happen is to click the 'Mark Community Read' link right at the bottom of the page. This will basically mark every single post as having been read, thus any future icons you see will be based on new, working data.

-
That's very strange, the 'view unread posts' feature seems to work reliably for me. If you hover over a thread this problem affects and click the arrow that appears in a circle, does a 'first unread post' appear in there? And if you click that link does it do the same problem, or take you to the last unread post like it should?
Oh and just to be clear, is this for the regular or mobile/phone skin?
-
Great work, and nice to see you back! Regarding newer tools, I have a sneaking suspicion most people on MapCore probably used 'free' versions while learning — what kind of hobbyist/student can afford such software? No going into the details of that here though, please.

-
How about its console sales? I imagine this as being the kind of game that'd do quite well on the 360 and PS3, like BioShock did.
-
Yeah I've noticed those two bugs while iPhone browsing myself, I think I'll add an extra « and » button for going to the first/last pages and just get rid of the loading box altogether.
