OK these are my 1st attempts at making textures. Yes they are based off of some photos I took but Ive been using this as a chance to learn Photoshop (and in turn 2d art) as well so I've done a fair bit of tweaking to them - added scratches/seams, cut up sections, got them tiling etc. So what Im basically looking for is constructive feedback so I know where to go next with things

My only tip is stop using sharpen filters, and keep making textures.

Looks really good, I like the sharp look to it but yeah you do need to lighten it a bit.

    yeah definitely too sharpened.

Make some more high-res textures. 256s are getting out of fashion and it's probably a better idea to start learning texturing with more pixels to work with.

the 2nd sand texture doesnt look too bad, the 1st is repeated way too much, it just looks bad, good starts though

Gman, you're post would probably be better off in the HL Remake thread.

I've laways wanted to do editing on textures, maps, scripts and programming, but..sigh..i'm not vry capable with that stuff (it's even true that I didn't do it with commitment, in short I've gave up at the first difficulty )..All of you guy have my admiration.
