Peter Moore leaves MS for EA Sports

Lol, I believe an ex EA exec is filling his shoes....oddly enough.

The material terms of the Offer Letter are as follows:

Mr. Moore’s annual base salary will be $550,000 and his discretionary target bonus percentage will be 75% of his annual base salary.

EA has agreed to pay Mr. Moore a one-time bonus of $1,500,000 (minus applicable taxes) in recognition of the future compensation value he would be foregoing by leaving his position at Microsoft. Although Mr. Moore will earn this one-time bonus at the completion of his second year of employment with EA, he will receive it within 30 days of starting employment. If Mr. Moore voluntarily leaves his employment with EA before the completion of two years, he has agreed to repay to EA the full net amount of the bonus.

EA has agreed to grant Mr. Moore a stock option to purchase 350,000 shares of the company’s common stock pursuant to EA’s 2000 Equity Incentive Plan. The stock option will vest as to 24% of the shares twelve months from the first day of the month in which the grant is made, and will then vest in additional 2% increments each month thereafter for the following 38 months.

EA has agreed to grant Mr. Moore 50,000 restricted stock units, which vest as to 50% of the shares on the second anniversary of the grant date, and as to the remaining shares on the fourth anniversary of the grant date.

EA will assist Mr. Moore with relocation-related expenses, which are currently estimated to be approximately $330,000. In the event Mr. Moore voluntarily leaves his employment with EA or is terminated for any reason other than a reduction in force that eliminates his job position (a) prior to the one-year anniversary of his date of hire, he has agreed to pay EA an amount equal to all relocation and gross-up expenses incurred by EA through the date of his termination; or (b) on or after the one-year anniversary of his date of hire and prior to the second anniversary of his date of

Strange move, though. EA Sports? Never really saw Moore in that kind of role at all. Certainly not after being at the helm of something as big as the Xbox.

What happened to Allard, BTW? He kind of just dropped off my radar at some point, never really followed it up.

His salary is actually lower than I would expect, however he's getting a huge bonus and probably pretty good stock options.

Yeah, I was referring more to his million+ bonus and the plethora of stocks he was granted, but his salary certainly isn't to be sniffed at either.

The new guy looks a bit boring. Clearly a console company's top dogs need personality.

But yeah, it's funny with Microsoft, when you're finally starting to like their PR guys they switch em out. Although the entire warranty ordeal obviously has had some heads roll, then I doubt it's the reason for this move by Moore. Does sound like Moore simply didn't want to stay in Seattle, and from the sound of things the Bay area does sound a bit nicer

I really like Peter Moore, he definitely seems more genuine than all the other executives combined. Hopefully he'll be able to do some good at EA Sports.

And yeah, the new guy does look awfully boring, hopefully he'll be "Allardified" in a hurry and be up and playing Rock Band by X07

Man, for people that don't a hell of a lot they sure get all the perks. It's not like this guy is solely responsible for every aspect of PR, and writes all his own speeches and comes up with all the advertising. I find it kinda silly how the higher up you get - the less you actually do and the more you get paid. I guess it comes down to being the person everybody blames if something goes wrong.

I bet he buys a PS3 lolz.

It'd cover maybe 25% of a nice house in the San Fran area, but seattle-area housing is expensive as hell so if he can sell his current house he's probably set for a while anyway Moving a family can be pretty expensive; I racked up about $6k just between two apartments from Madison to Dallas including shipping my wife's car and flying her down here. I imagine with a large house to a large house it's pretty ridiculous.

My 1 bedroom flat in Brighton (UK South coast) cost more than that. I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry...

At the high levels like that you are generally not paid for your "doing" but rather your "being"...
