It is extremely telling that they are revealing the trailer during the NFL draft. Games made to appeal to sports fans and college brahs are not usually very good.

WE'VE BEEN CAUGHT IN THE IRONY TRACTOR BEAM, GENTLEMEN

ins is worldwide, iraq 1st release, but the middle east is a fucking boring environment and as cliched now as ever and I pretty much hate it as a mapper.

I loved CoD1 and yes, CoD2 (on 360 and PC).

Couldn't get into CoD3...the most intense WW2 cinematic shooter experience ever! CoD3 was simply just too much chaos for this old dog to really enjoy. Still a good product, but not my favorite WW2 shooter by long shot.

I can imagine what CoD4 is, but until the product gets formally announced my speculation is that (1) it will get a mixed reaction here and probably nitpicked in a negative way (2) it will actually be a LOT of fun to play once you get your hands on it (3) it will sell like hotcakes

I rember seeing COD screens like it was yesterday, how i drooled of the war torned fields with the dead cows.

COD was (and still is) a really cool game, United Offence was even better (in the mp part atleast) much thanks to its drivable vechiels.

COD 2 was good and all that but I wonder why they didn't put ragdolls in it.

COD 3 wasent much of an update gfx vise, and I agree with Izuno about the to much chaos. I love the mp part on my 360 tho.

Since (as far as im concernd) they havent realeased any specific info about what they see as "modern war" I would take lightly on speculations, maybe its a senario like Rainbow Six of some sort (hopes) but Iraq,Iran,China might not be so bad either. Its after all COD makers.

Mayor creds to IW for making one of the best multiplayer experience with UO

Even though I've stated that I wouldn't play a new CoD each time they announce one then I always end up getting them once they're released. Doubt it'll be any different with this one.

As people said, really unimaginative action games, but they do their job well and sometimes thats all you need . Oh and I actually liked CoD3, nothing special but okay fun

    UO was made by Treyarch.

i take it infinity ward is now Activision's new order-out-sequel-franchise-based-titles-because-we-are-a-greedy-publisher slave like Raven is

    unfortunate.

No, UO was Gray Matter, that has since been merged into the arrogantly console-only Treyarch, which is why COD 3 didn't ship for the PC.

leileilol: IW did actually start the franchise, you know. Activision's been poorly milking it with the inconsistent and confusing naming and less-than-stellar console renditions of the first couple, but if anyone's going to be making a CoD game it should be IW.

Don't blame Activision for trying to make money by wanting more CoD branded product. There is something to be said for the value of a brand in gaming now. That said, I agree there has been brand confusion with CoD2: Big Red One.

The bottom line is that "Call of Duty" is a brand and it until CoD4 it has stood for intense, actionmovie style WW2 combat which isn't a bad thing at all.

Are they a slave to "greedy" Activision? Yeah, maybe...but they have some sweet new offices and have kickass LAN gaming during office hours. I think maybe the IW guys know what they're doing.

Why don't they release longer series of good games? I'd enjoy having thief 4, fallout 3, rune 2

I'd even argue they're continuing brand confusion by splitting the franchise with Treyarch; COD3 should be considered a continuation of the console arc of Finest Hour and Big Red One (it even branches from the BRO engine path, not COD2), separate from IW's lineage. And, of course, BRO should have never had a number associated with it.

I've greatly enjoyed the COD franchise, and even did enjoy COD3 on the whole, but I'm damn glad to see Infinity Ward is back up to the plate.

Heh, I love the way you'll all judging a book by it's cover...

Just wait till they actually show us something tomorrow, I mean it probably will end up being in the middle east again (I'm a cynic..) but you never know, they might surprise us.
