HL2DM - [WIP] dm_phobos

I have had this posted at interlopers for a long while now so I thought I might post it here for some more constructive criticism.

I haven't worked on this map in ages and it is still far from done, anyways here is the layout and a screen shot.

I'm not showing the rest of the screens because those parts of the map are not done or worth showing.

Also all the textures are custom made by the talented evillair at http://www.evillair.net the only texture that is custom and made by me is the door texture.

That looks damn hot! I'm not sure about the layout though... it looks a bit oversized. It also seems to be kinda linear in some areas, which is not good for a dm map. Just my first impressions

Keep it up anyways.

looks super awesome, you might want to throw in some other shades of gray in there and a bit more color

It does look huge. Youre not making it easy on yourself..

Lighting could use less ambient and more contrast, its a bit washed out.

Nice start to it mate but as mentioned you really aren't doing yourself many favours with the size of that layout.

Awesome work. I love the geometry and texture use, but I would try to add a bit more color to the lighiting; mabey some blue, oragne or red highlights, just to spice things up a bit. Also I agree with what the others have said about the layout, great start though. Keep it up.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

The map is going to be big but things are much scaled down than what you see on the layout.

I plan on making some custom light models later so I can match the lights more with the theme.

I think it looks great. I don't mind the ambient lighting either. I think we put too much emphasis on contrasted lighting and forget that sometimes ambient lighting is easier to look at. The one thing i did notice about it though, is that the pipe up there is not quite lit correctly. the whole thing is rather bright. Darkening it up by moving the light origin is probably all you need.

Unfortunately this map has been abandoned.

It was too big and I lost interest.

Plus when I formatted the HD I lost it. Now I am working on a new map called zm_merge for a CSS mod called Zombie Mod.

Edit: I will finish zm_merge!!
