I have seen this done in xsi and in maya by hessi . Does anyone know how to export hammer stuff into 3ds max? would make my life so much easier.

hammer:
file -> export to DXF
3d max
file -> import -> dxf
and you are done
actually i see that this 3dmax DXF plugin is kinda slow. maybe you should turn off all those features like welding/merging and smoothing stuff

Be careful with some of the settings & welding, or you can sometimes affect the dimensions of the imported geometry. When you're trying to make your prop seamless with the map bsp geometry, it's just something to be aware of.

Also, the imported dxf model will have tons of excess faces so make sure to get rid of those.
