edit: i should do a quick videotutorial on pralls maya exporter too.
there is an easier way with just static props but i didn't mention it in the tutorial. im think my friend uses an all in one exporter also hessi for max but i havn't looked into it yet.

awesome dudes, that will be definately usefull for a lot of people around here, i'll download these just to check how you do ![]()
So NOW you release tutorial like that? I spent a goddamn day to figure out how to get my static model in to the game just like a month ago or so ![]()
Great that someone's doing useful tutorials tho, will help alot. ![]()
Stupid question, what are you exporting too, HL2? Cheers ![]()
yap. most of us are working with the source engine. that doesnt mean you couldnot post any other game related works or questions.
Cheers, figured since it was Vivi, just wasn't sure, might give it a try ![]()
I am so getting this when my comp is back up!
edit:
care to link to the different exporters etc. that you used?
if you are talking to me you should heck out the readme. there is a link to a pdf file including an instruction how to install the maya exporter
VIVI THROW IT BACK UP, IT DOESN'T WORK!!!1
Compiling models from max to Source is such a pain in the ass, so thanks for the tutorial vid:)
And yeah, it does not work atm.
I am currently trying to compile get a model from max into Source which so far has been a nightmare. Even with a 3rd party helper tool like SteamShovel I still got no luck on getting a .mdl out of it.
What someone really should make is a plugin to max so that I can just select "Export->Source mdl" and let that be it. Instead I am forced through a myriad of smd files, qc files, guimdl compilers, etc.
So please get that video tutorial up again!
yeah i think all of the stuff doesn't work anymore or somthing . its kinda gay. i have to re-upload it i think . along with some other new tutorials . I guess i should check the rest of them while im doing it. ill try and get it up soon ..

That would not work. You would at the very least need a ton of options to choose the settings for the model.
Try working with e.g. Max&Virtools and you will see that exact workflow. A number of options is needed, but that could be handled within the aforemented workflow.
