It depends what your good at. There are some basic tricks to make a layout work for de_ maps, check out the crytek bible thing in the sticky. Anyways its much easier to work together online on a layout, than map together, and a match map should be easy enough to map by a single person. If you make a new match map which is accepted by cal/cpl u get 1000times more players, and its not that difficult to get one into cal/cpl, they are begging for source match maps.

Was bored. . .
I'm gonna leave it to Valve for the old stuff

honestly that looks like HL1 with new lighting. YOu could emphasize SO MUCH STUFF on that level with some custom work. Pimp it out erratic, i know you can

I really only through it together this aftertoon after I saw this thread and decided to fool around with some of the remake ideas. Vertigo, having textures similar to those available with Source content, was an obvious choice, so I went ahead with it.
But now you've got me thinking. It could actually be really fun to undertake.
Too bad there's always the chance that Valve could unsuspectedly come along and thorw up a screenshot in a Steam update featuring a reimagining of Vertigo. -
Idk, I doubt valvE is even gonna mess around to make a vertigo.
They could but I dont expect it.
Go for it dude. Always good practice.

lol lmao it looks the same as it did in 1.6, did you think that if you bring the old look back it will make the people like it?
nah, look at valve and what they did, they ruined every single map that was official now we have to play source on. I know, temper temper my friend, but this is not a decompile and a flip of bases from the original isn't it? Every parameter and corner and area looks exactly the same, i blame on rip off.
gj anyway, but this looks kinda hl1 oldschool.

I'm probably one of the only people that would want to see an oilrig style map on source. maybe not make it as_, but turn it into a de_.
You could probably do some really crazy-cool things with the environment on source.

ok so the list is vertigo, thunder, 747 and docks so far (did i miss one?) out of those which one should be remade?
Personally docks is my favorite from the list. I still don't know why they ever took it out from the offical release. plus I think it would be a nice gesture since the guy that made it (Justin Dejong aka N0TH1NG) has since passed away. but then again i'm prolly bias since i've lost a sibling in the past

Oilrig has been done by Djbourgeosie (hope I spelt that right) for the PAF VIP mod...

I was just fooling around
. I had no intention of remaking vertigo. It only took about 20 minutes anyway. -
