Anyone know how to specificaly reconfigure the 3dsmax's grid so that it is the same as Valve Hammer Editor's units (specificaly unitsx8). I know how to configure the grid, but not how to make it match valve.

Ok I found that the standard grid sizes in 3dsmax are the same as vhe.
So you simply have to change the home grid spacing to 8 or what ever you want. I'd suggest 8 to keep things clean.

its a model.

i think pericolosososos covered it pretty much in his nice tutorial

but you figured it out on your own, anyways

Alltho max mess up the size when exporting slightly, the units aren't precise.

Here we have a snap option when exporting. The exporter makes the model slightly bigger, and then it has a snap option, on how large distances it should snap back to get the real size.

any good news? lol there goes the hope ot make something clean and modular.

It's still a pain in the arse to position models

Yeah but getting things _precise_ on the grid is gonna suck if they resize the model at all

Peris, how come every model be off by 0.1 unit or something?
Make a wall 256 x 256 in max, and then try and fit it in hammer, you will see glitches I'm pretty sure.
Atleast that's what always happens when I export, and why they made our exporter with that snap-option.

in max 7?
Strange, I have read about it happening, here at work it's fucked and my max at home too.
