i'm guessing indexes is vertices and drawcount is triangles?
even that is pretty high for a weapon though?

A couple of days ago I saw this pretty lame documentary in German TV about some of the most dangerous roads in the world. What caught my attention tho were those colorful Tata trucks they were driving around with. So yeah, thats teh story of why Im modelling an Indian Tata 2515 truck right now.
I'm almost done with the highpoly, I'll probably gonna take it into ZBrush next for some extra detail.

can't wait to see the paint job.
I'm no expert in modeling but that looks insanely awesome to my eyes. Love the amount of details and there is a lot of character.
how ... do you do this?
I think its time I tried to better myself
Damn, yeah, the amount of details is incredible ! ![]()
Looks fantastic, you just need to model the Tata logo on the front ![]()
First off, awesome! Looks really great.
second off... you forgot to add a double set of tires on the back, how is this huge vehicle supposed to support itself?

Thanks for all teh feedback guys.

Haha, yeah, if you've got your head sticking so close to all those tiny little details you sometimes totally forget the more obvious stuff, like .. tires.
So thats how it looks like right now:

How to bake that now ? ![]()
defo won't fit in an oven as a whole, gona need to it into parts and bake them separately.
yea, baking it is gonna be a biaaach ! ![]()
yeah, uvs will be fun as hell either ![]()

That's some seriously and awesomely detailed vehicle! Good luck getting that thing baked! ![]()
Compared to the above I didn't even want to post this but here goes.

penE that's a really nice model. Will be interesting to see how you do this. Especially the bags and ropes on top.
RedYager the tank looks very blocky. I take it you didn't make it with a hipoly?
Hi,
I didn't use a hi-poly mesh, mainly because I still haven't ventured into that area of modelling yet. I actually made this over 2 years ago for Red Orchestra 1, it was quite a shock seeing how terrible my UV map was back then, so I went back and finally finished it (finished for me).
I'm curious though, where would the high poly come into play, Would it be used simply for details such as the bolts, tire treads ect, or for rounding off edges a bit too?
Cheers
Normal map will smooth all the edges you want and it's a blast for your model. There's a way to fake it by chamfering the edges and changing vertex normal so there will be no problem with weird gradients. Anyway, you should think about making a high-poly model ![]()
There are plenty of threads about tanks and armoured vehicles on polycount that you can check out to get an idea what the hp mesh is for.
Btw Seir there is also another method other then chamfering to fake smooth edges. This seems to be quite popular with people who use only ndo for their normal maps:
