The two big threads brought all the no post members; half-life texture remake and ol's physco house.
I'd like to see Mapcore grow.

There are about 260 people that registered but never made a single post.
So that includes me, oh wait shit I'm posting now! Well just pretend you didn't see this one.
Anyways I've been in and out of the #mapcore for some time now. Perhaps close to a year? I just browse the forums, kinda like I'm stalking hmmmmm. With all that said, HELLO!

-

Seriously though I'd just like to see more content coming out of people. There are like a post a month it seems in the Level Design WIP forum.

Agreed

Something else that also comes to mind, is that in this thread we all glorify ourselves by calling us the elitest and coolest bad asses on the planet (except me ofc, im nub). But almost no work is presented because those of us that actually are bad assed pro's cant show their work (except maybe once a year) because its for a game that's coming out soon... As more and more of Mapcore gets jobs, less and less hard-core pro shit is WIP'd here

-
Maybe you should remove eot and make more parts to mapping.. NO DONT DO THAT ZOMG~~~~

Quoted for truth. This generation of mapcorians seems to consist of people who are working in the industry by now and thus cannot present their work due to NDAs, people who wrap up their stuff for applications these days and the freaks who just rant and don't create any content themselves (I love you guys
). Simply put: We need new souls! -
I make maps, well haven't worked any in the past 2 months or so, but I just choose not to post them, unless finished of course. Seems like when I post them before they're done I never finish them.
Then again I never finish them even if I don't post them, but I'm working on fixing this.
Newest map I'm working on can be found here but its nothing to special.

Hmm i don't think we need to grow. Once in a while someone new pops in and shows amazing work, those are keeping thigns interesting as far as i'm concerned. And i think the lack of maps is due to the switch to a new engine

-
well, the initial switch to the new engine brought a shitload of maps. i remember in like december id check the snarkpit three times a day and see four new maps. now theres a new one about once every day.

MapCore is great in my opinion. I still consider myself very much a n00b here or anywhere, but MapCore has always been good to me. 3 cheers for MapCore.
As for the comparison with Map-Center... Well, I post over there as well, because there are a few juicy pros I really would like to see my stuff, but believe me, if you can get a reply to your thread once a week, it is brisk business on Map-Center. MapCore is way better than that. Way more active people here.
Of course it would be awesome to more stuff coming out of people, but you can't force that, can you? I mean, if you ask people, anybody will say "Yes! I want to make games for a living..." but actually there are two kinds, those who do it even if they aren't paid for it, and the others. And if people can't be motivated to, essentially, make more games... Then WHAT can motivate them anyway? Can't force it...
Don't think growing forcefully is neccessarily the answer unless you are somebody like CG Talk...
-
Couldn't agree more. 3 cheers for mapcore from me as well. When trying to learn how to make textures mapcore really helped, with a special mention for peri, mino, blaz and klein~~

I know what you mean Skjalg, but thats the way I learned it too. There were alot of harsh people on the counter-strike forums when I was starting up, and that didnt put me down, it made me stronger and better able to take critism. But seriously, remakes like that one is just begging to be flamed ;D Even my first hl test map compile looked better than that

if i just could say the same, my first hammer compile make my computer broke down coz of wrong propeties and so(i got a bad comp
)

I think Tom really wants to see mapcore grow. He mentioned it over at beyondunreal forums and it caught my attention. This place sounds great
