Saw the movie, liked it! Wouldnt be able to see it again, though. One trick story.

I have watched the trailer AFTER seeing the movie and it doesn't seem like they left out any part unspoiled :S

Nice, that's how to make a great space movie based on an awesome book.

The movie left out a couple of the most memorable moments of the book, and it only scratched past some things that the book covers pretty much in depth, but you can only cram so much content in a 2 hour movie, so it's understandable.

Phenomenal movie, go watch it, Ridley Scott's best since Blade Runner.

This was very good, but I would rank it below both Gravity and Interstellar. The film was surprisingly comedic a lot of the time, didn't expect that, but it worked pretty well imho. :)

Is the book any good? If that is the case I might give it a go :)

Yeah it's pretty good. The first track sounds almost a bit Pink Floyd esque, love that guitar sound. However, the soundtrack in general hasn't really gripped me as much as, say, Interstellar.

Anyone else got obvious Alien inspiration in this movies intro? Both the music that's playing, and the way it shows you the logo.

Yeah he's really good, his work on Sinbad is some of the best I've heard, and I've not seen the movie lol, checkout 1:15+ on this sucker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFpgLCJ-3co

Sorry Chris, but why are we talking about Harry Gregson Williams for stuff other than the MGS Snake Eater soundtrack??

The Martian - definitely enjoyable in a lot of ways. Interstellar had more wowzers, but it's definitely one of the best movies of '15 and of our 10s.

Despite having read the book before, I very much enjoyed the movie. The struggle for survivial didn't get across as much as in the book, but obviously they had to leave out a lot of the details. I do wonder though:

How do people who haven't read the book feel about the hatch blowing up? That got teased heavily throughout the book and there was no explanation for it in the movie or I missed it.

Wouldn't mind if the movie was 30min longer, the last part felt very rushed. But overall I really enjoyed the movie.
