I know the challenge of not being change things much because of how interconnected things are when your map is multiple stories, the yacht map I'm making has the same constrictions. I think a railing or something in the middle of that staircase might work out nicely, at the moment the staircase seems unbelievably wide to me.

Stairs are quite wide, but not sure I will change them because the spawn point is just above them so I want room for a bunch of players to rush down them. I'll keep it in mind though if it looks strange.

Agree'd. It's okay done once, but 2 right next to each other looks weird. I hesitate to say it looks almost lazy considering the rest of the map, and work put into it. Maybe put in a detailed wall their instead?

Agreed as well, very lazy on my part, I'll look into a nicer option.

Guess I could write a slot machine in vscript that spits out guns if you want

I did think about having the slots work, but have no idea how i would even manage that. How to make them recognize that there are 3 of the same type in a row.

And here is what I have been doing today.

Not entirely sure if I am allowed to use the Midnight Riders, but its easy enough to change if not.

Also, anyone have ideas on a name for the boat (or names for places like the casino/arcade/bar) Bonus points for something that manages to sneak Hurg in

How about Hurghada? It's a city at the Red Sea coast and a famous tourist attraction, fitting for a cruise ship.

That's also the sound that makes Aku Aku in Crash Bandicoot, isn't it ?

Are you going to park the ship at a port? The skybox (skybex? ) on workout was insanely good. Might be a missed trick if you put the ship in the middle of the sea.

No, it wont be in the middle of the sea, but probably not at port either. Although not set in stone, my initial idea is to have it sailing near some nice coastal city with hopefully some nice monuments or mountains. Something like this, but I am still open to ideas so if anyone has good ref images of places I would love to see them.

Following up on my Hurghada ship name suggestion, here are some pictures of the city and its surroundings:

You could disregard the port building, but use the promenade and the mosque as inspirations.

At this point I'd just love the map to be a completely claustrophobic isolated area in the middle of an ocean.

It would add some tension to the combat and area itself.

    But yeah, whatever Skybex chooses.

What about the Costa Concordia? It could be sailing too close to an island... or it could be sinking...

That's close to where I live, the south of France theme might a bit overused though.

Why not the Cliffs of Dover? It's good-looking and not distracting from the actual map.

Thanks for the ref pics guys, still not decided where I will have it but will defiantly have a look back here when I am making it. and Klems, what is the name of that place?

Not a lot done since the last post, but since i will be away for a week I thought i would post what I have done.

Some more stuff to the casino

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/cqCmNDJ.png]

And some stuff done outside. Made a big screen TV and a table tennis table. The text on the screen will scroll when done.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/L5J8lqi.png]

I started to work on this area with the idea it would be the arcade, but while running around it I thought it odd that they would place an arcade for teenagers right next to a gambling casino as well as by the elevators. so might have to rethink what will go there. (the screenshot is taken from the doorway that you can see in the above casino image)

Not really a fan of the roof tiles on 3rd screenshot, but looks very awesome nonetheless!

    Looks amazing already!

Could always have a bar next to the casino. If this cruise ship is anything like the one i was on, there will be bars pretty much everywhere on the ship.

Was away for a lot longer than I had planned, but at least managed to get some work done on a different project during that time.

Since I returned I have been doing more work on the arcade. I will move it up a floor and put a bar/lounge area next to the casino instead. Makes a lot more sense as the floor above you walk through the court and into the arcade area, so keeps with the game/fun theme of the area.

Anyway, made a bike racing game

Spec map is too strong, will work on that.

    And some CoreCola

Newbie question here, how do you go about optimizing your map with all those curves, and diagonals? - Also this is just amazing, I mean I don't even know why I'm mapping when there are guys like you and FMPONE around.
