And if you're too tall you won't be able to crouch to fit into vents!

Freeman is only 1.8m tho (72 inches). Even though it might be something that takes getting used to, I'm sure once you're used to it's no problem. Kind of like switching mouse sensitivity

I've tested HL2 on rift yesterday and my whole day was fucked, I was feeling sick for a looong time
I've also tried Quake 1, some roller coaster demos and the SDK demo - cool stuff but I need to get used to it. I'll try to calibrate this as Helder said but how to calibrate it? -

The cinema demo is really impressive if you haven't checked it out yet, one of the best for getting a sense of depth.

That thing is from 1992, cost $60,000, had about 4 games, weighed a ton, and showed you this:

Looks to be non-3D, no wide fov, low frame rate.
Soon, you will be able to get the Virtuix Omni and the Oculus Rift for around $750 (on top of your which shows you the latest next gem games in 60 fps, 3d, wide fov, on a 350 gram headset.

So, playing as Freeman and using the realistic Oculus would make our brain think that we're in a... Half-Life?

1992? that's fucking insane. game looks awesome and stupid as hell. would play

I tried that game once at Gröna Lund in Stockholm as they had one of those machines set up. It felt like looking down two tubes, having no idea what to do and the low framerate made sure the experience was shortlived, and terrible.

Well they updated it saying that he's apparently still at Id, but it sounds a bit weird.
-
Nice. I think it's fair to say that Carmack has got this shit, and that it'll be incredible beyond imagination within a year or so.

-
He's well into the VR stuff now from his talks at quakecon so I'm not surprised at him joining. The way I read it was that he has left id but further reading led me to his twitter account where he still lists himself at id but the occulus stuff seems to be his top priority at the moment.

He owns half of Id, he doesn't need to "leave".

Nice! I'm actually excited about this, VR is slowly becoming the obvious future of gaming so hopefully he'll help pushing it faster.
And yes, Carmack said on his tweet he'll still work at id, and Armadillo although his focus will be the Oculus.
Also, here's the article from Oculus: http://oculusrift.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2140

This all but guarantees quantum leaps in the art. Love it
