Quotethe dangly spider balls where I pick up the gravity gun
-
Nice work fellas, lovely to see more Source stuff.
-
Congrats on the release! Definitely looks great this time around. Great exploration of the combine stuff. Here is a link to the demo of my playthrough and here are some notes;
- I started playing with a 360 controller so I could play on my couch using the TV. When I got to the
Quoteattack helicopter spot, the game was unplayable. Once you run out of ammo with the rocket launcher and switch to another weapon, you can't switch back to the rocket launcher without a keyboard. This is likely a problem with HL2 as well.
Probably nothing you can fix, but figured I'd mention it.
- One of the first things you experience is a boat sound that has a short, annoying loop.
- Floating rock around the first path
- Rocks just beyond the door of the first building, door goes right through the rocks when opening. Vines on the wall there also extend past door, clips through when the door opens as well.
- The fog plane behaves strangely near the lighthouse, sometimes it works fine and other times it seems to be broken and you can clearly see where the water ends in the playable space.
-
QuoteAfter leaving the lighthouse, the player gets fucked by a couple of combine that spawn 10 feet in front of them around the corner. This feels less like an ambush and more like a cheap trick.
-
QuoteAfter returning to the house with the electricity puzzle, I got fucked with a checkpoint save right when two enemies were coming through a doorway in front of me. This resulted in several checkpoint reload deaths.
-
QuoteThere is a spot where the player has to climb some shit onto a pipe and go through a hole high up in the wall. There is the lambda symbol to say, "up here!", but even that is nearly in darkness.
-
QuoteI got stuck and couldn't figure out what to do in the combine area after returning to a space where the player has to climb up an angled wall and then onto a collapsed bridge. The geometry was similarly colored and on similar angles, hard to notice.
-
QuoteI also got stuck crossing under the traintrack, the ledge the player uses to leave almost looks too steep so I didn't consider it.
-
QuoteWas another floating rock mesh after the player comes out from underground and crosses under a small bridge. It is off to the left, I can't remember where this falls in chronology.
-
Quotelol @ the pidgeon
-
QuoteThe part looking out the pidgeon/helicopter window was strange. I almost thought I was looking out into a huge cave, but it was the night sky?
- Cool end credits

-
QuoteI found 0/3 flowers

-
Congrats, I'll play whenever I can be bothered to reinstall HL2 again

-
I came to thread not knowing about any of these updates, to ask about part 3,,,
Best, surprise, ever.
Quote from SkjalgYeah these single player missions are pretty epic.btw insta, do you know of any similar types of single player campaign maps that I can download? (I'm not into the hl2 sp map scene)
http://www.planetphillip.com is the site.

i played through it. here's what i have to say:
first off, it's a great experience. it's weird, because the first part feels very half-life 2 inspired, but then the following 2 acts feel very different, as in it's an atmosphere i would never expect from a source game. which is very good, but i'm wondering if it was intentional? either way, i was definitely reminded of metro2033/stalker/fallout during
Quotethe underground encounters
. also, hilarious dialogue, though i did not expect less from the pairing of two comedy geniuses.
spoilers etc:
Not Safe For Work the combine stronghold is very cool, though i would have thought for something of that size the entrance to it would be more "built-up". i mean, i opened a door from a bridge and suddenly HELLO ITS THE COMBINE CITADEL, which feels very anticlimatic.also there are some things that are a little bit off. the steam in the intermission doesn't hurt you, but it does other places? i wasted some time during the intermission trying to find a route past until i found out that the steam doesn't do anything.
during the sniper encounter, it's really hard to see where you're supposed to go next. in general there are some places that are not very obvious in terms of where to go next, also inside the citadel.

Loved it!
-
It was impressive, wow !
I had the impression to be in a Valve's Episodes of the Half Life series ! Top !
PS : lol the lovely flowers !

-
Holy shit dude this was some incredible stuff.
I just stopped and stared at some of the level design/brushwork for several minutes at a time.
-
Grats you guys!! Awesome work

-
Incredible work, even with the few small flaws it had (some fps issues on large outdoor areas, few "lazy-collisions" and few other small small things)! Like mentioned above, it was like Valve quality.. except alot better. Great job people who were developing this! I wish there was more of it though..

-
Congratz guys, overall a really enjoyable mod, but some part feels really weird.
Spoilar :
Not Safe For Work - In the first mission, the last part with the helicopter was kinda frustrating, when you are really lowlife and you are out of rocket, the only one possibility is to die, get on the top is always a pain in the arse because you can't escape the damages. Of course after some attemps it works, but after 3-4 attemps i'm starting to be frustrated.- In the second mission the part with the antlions was really enjoyable, but after the battle, I escaped the place with a really low life, and just after you must fight the combine at the gas station, and then same thing, you die, you die, you die, you die, you die...
- In the third mission, the end was kinda akward, I don't know, you fall in the water, and you don't really know what to do, ofc you go to the house near the shore, but already, the first time you will try to get out of the water to breath (because the house is too far), you will be instantly killed because you are always lowlife.
After that when you have understand that you have enough breath to go under the ramp, you don't really know where to go, and when the helicopter touch you, you are a dead man ! So you turn around the house and you try to take a boat to get on the top and, nope
. In my despair, I even tried the technique of 'Pirat of caribbean' and hide under those boats, but apparently I don't have the skill of Jack Sparrow
So in the end, all those thing tarnish a bit the quality of the mod.
Then overall, a reaaaally good work

But what if they are playing on Easy?

-
OOOOOHHHH there was an option to change the difficulty

No ofc i'm not really pointing out the difficulty of the campaign, but more some frustrating part which can be avoided. (I DON'T LIKE TO DIE MDFKA !)
Then take it as you want, it was just my opinion :derp:
