GOG in charge of being awesome.
-
Managed to get halfway through the tutorial, then I lost connection to the server, and now I can't get back in ._.
-
Can everyone just state their Origin ID? I always get a shitton of requests because of the Battlefield Dice Platoon and have to cancel them so no idea who's from mapcore

-
Mine is Ren182
I don't have Sim City, but I do have BF3 and play quite often. Probably going to pick up Sim City once the servers actually work. -
We should have a topic where everyone posts their Origin IDs, i need moar friends for battlefield

It's a shame reviewers couldn't wait until launch, instead of taking the pre-release review copy. at least the user score seems to reflect annoyances with the server issues
-
We can just repurpose this one (which is still stickied) if you post your Origin IDs in there:
Can do the same for Steam and any other widely-used systems if you like.
If skdr doesn't want to maintain the list I'll just hijack it when I have a bit of time, but if you at least post them there it'll make it easier.
Maybe longer term I'll do some kind of page in the top menu which has all these in in a better-presented format. -

It just blows my mind that people would pay $60 (or $80 for "deluxe) for a game that you can lose all progress in at the loss of an internet connection.
-
doesn't it (auto) save frequently? how do you lose all progress?
-
In theory, yes, but everyone I know with the game has been losing their saves at the moment. To not allow a local save is just disgraceful.

Pulled from amazon:

Man, look at those scores. Some serious lessons are going to be learnt at EA over this. Also: firings.
Considering that Maxis's last game, Spore, kicked off massive DRM controversies and resulted in the game getting awful user reviews across the board as well as becoming the most pirated game of the year, it's incredible that this actually happened.
Third time's the charm?
-
Oh man, I didn't think about Spore. I was giving Maxis/EA the benefit of the doubt, I'd forgotten about that mess. But in retrospect, at least you could play Spore. I guess I'm part of the problem.
Also, patch notes from today (http://answers.ea.com/t5/Miscellaneo…/658556#U658556):
QuotePatch 1.2
- Fix for crash caused most commonly occurring on servers experiencing lag. This crash would happen most often when claiming a new city when playing in a region.
- Fix for server select dialog not appearing on start-up if the server the player was last on is not available.
- Disabled Cheetah speed. Cheetah speed is is now the same as llama speed.
- Crash fix for finding closest points.
- Crash fixes in transport and pedestrian code.
- A fix cities having processing problems associated with helicopters.
I mean, come on. It's supposed to be temporary, but still.
I bought SimCity 2000 off GoG last night, and had a good time. Fun reliving some childhood memories.
