    Isn't predictability a center for e-sport level?

    I haven't been playing GO enough so I'm not disregarding or opposing your position, the impression for a very casual player is that you dunno where the hostages are until you get there. In Italy I like Long so I used to rush that anyway cos if the hostage is that building, it has been easier for me to recover it.

    I don't think the message to Ts about an hostage being taken is an issue, can actually work as a decoy (if they are not notified the hostage has been dropped – in that case I would remove that)

    I'm going to have to disagree with you fmpone.


    I think designing a level for 2 hostage spawns vs. 4-6 hostage spawns is objectively better for a number of reason.


    I tend to look at each hostage location as a bombsite, each one contains it's own set of angles and tactics. Things can become very difficult when you have to learn 6 different bombsites and how they correlate to each other.


    As Blackdog said above, predictability is at the center competitive gameplay.

    It looks like they are trying to take the essence of defuse maps and instill them in the hostage game mode. Makes sense to me if that's how it's happened.


    Following from that predictability would make sense. BUT the hostage maps are in much smaller proximity in their current state. And had originally been designed for different hostage mode entirely, so they've had to retroactively apply this new style which has it's own problems.


    I'd then suggest going forward to separate the hostages more like bomb sites, but that's unrealistic and dangerously close to becoming a slight variation on a normal defuse mode.


    I like the randomness, although I completely agree that esports do need that predictability.

    Patch day is Wednesday, but recently (since Arms Deal mostly), it's been going over to Thursday quite a bit.

    I like this idea. if valve cannot fix these issues the maps will need to work around them.

    I like the idea in practice, but it's a band-aid for a larger issue.


    Maybe we could get a playtest of this map up on the mapcore server?


    I could only imagine the sound of metal footsteps all over the place would get very annoying.

    Is sound related to bsp thickness? If so wouldn't making the ceiling/floor thicker fix the issue.

    I think sound is calculated by distance alone.


    The guy is saying on reddit the floor used to be func_detail (and metal) but valve changed it to a brush? I'm pretty sure you can have metal sounding brushes though...
