Isn't predictability a center for e-sport level?
I haven't been playing GO enough so I'm not disregarding or opposing your position, the impression for a very casual player is that you dunno where the hostages are until you get there. In Italy I like Long so I used to rush that anyway cos if the hostage is that building, it has been easier for me to recover it.
I don't think the message to Ts about an hostage being taken is an issue, can actually work as a decoy (if they are not notified the hostage has been dropped – in that case I would remove that)
