The CS:GO update is now live with THE ARMS DEAL UPDATE which is also showing that there are going to be weapon model submissions added to the workshop:
"In the near future, you’ll be able to upload your own weapon finishes and custom knife models through the CS:GO Workshop. Popular up-voted finshes may even appear in future CS:GO updates!"
What do you guys think about this and the update as a whole? I actually hope that the maps and models are going to be seperated somehow, coz I'm afraid of the competition, haha.

Holy shit so the rumors were true, they did add the silencers back! Damn, I didnt think that was going to happen

Also what do you mean models and maps competing?
-
I mean if the models are going to be in the same workshop as the maps, it might get harder for the maps to reach a top 3 position in the workshop, and once its in the top 3 it gets a lot more attention, and top 1 even more, but this shouldnt bother us too much I guess.
-
I too hope they will be separate, I was never too keen on the workshop tbh.
-
I loved they added the silencers back! But it seems to be different from the former versions of the game. From what I read, it's not the colt with a silencer that can be attached, but a whole new weapon: cheaper, fewer bullets in the mag, less recoil and better accuracy. I need to test that.
Also, the StatTrack is a great idea! Being able to brag about how many enemies you killed right on your weapon model is very cool, especially considering that we'd be able to inspect the weapon in-game.
It's good to see that VALVe is applying successful mechanics from their other games: item drop/ chest/ keys, unique weapons, steam workshop for the items, increasing the prize pool of eSports with purchases of the eSports chest etc.
a-maze-in.
-
noooooooooooooooo all weapons are gunna be buttfucking ugly camoflage in this game too now...
;;;;______;;;
-
Silencers !!! Wouhouuuu o/
-
oh gawd... the silenced weapons are selected in your inventory to replace the P2000 / M4A4.
That's right, decision making outside the in-game experience... jesus tits what is this?!?!?! ;;____;;
-
-
FUCK YEAH!
I was bitching just last week with a friend (old CS player that hasn't converted to GO) about the absence of silenced weapons (and overall animations).
Please somebody port CS:S models+animations right away.
Having custom guns available through the Workshop is also great, I still remember you had to erase and reinstall CS:S because after hacking too much it would decrease performances (at least, that how it felt like to me and all my fellows).
PS: lol!

Some analysis of the update

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.really a bummer that the cases are 1 weapon, I mean... 2€ for 1 gun?
Anyways, in my opinion the inventory was really quickly pieced together and just makes me more convinced that the UI could use some improvements here and there. Looking at guns seems really pointless to me, it's so clunky that I'm demotivated at that, there should be like a gallery (see Splinter Cell Conviction).
