Yeah weapons are pretty bad... the best ones look at best at the same level as Fallout New Vegas weapons

I actually quite liked the environment art though. Surely it's not mind blowing but I'm glad they finally improved vrad. I tried to achieve the same de_dust off-white look while on Insurgency 2 but found it almost impossible with the portal 2 engine.

Was this game made entirely by valve by the way? Cause it doesn't have usual polish from valve games.. really hoping the final release is more polished than this beta version. :ssj:

Nope. CSGO is made by Hidden Path Entertainment. Valve is just acting as hypemachine/publisher here. HPE also did gun-animations for L4D2, which in both games are poor (though they are little bit better now in CSGO). Indeed CSGO could use that Valve-polish, because some maps have still odd corners you get stuck (cs_office's CT spawn's rightside smaller storage room's windowframe, de_nuke's window holes are still blocked) and overall some spots look bit rushed IMO.

In short; I'll be skipping this one.

Awesome, made using Source Filmmaker too. So presumably all the assets are fully usable.

Looking at the lowpoly and res models, I was wondering if they are really aiming at the low end pc market. Maybe they want to pull all those players still playing 1.6 and source.

    OS: Windows® 7/Vista/XP

    Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 processor or better

    Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista

Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6GB of Space

Video Card: Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 3.0

So... didn't Valve develop (at least the majority of) its own game? I'm curious to know why. Wouldn't be too risky to lend one of their most important franchises to another devs and end up with a game that doesn't match completely their "seal of approval"/ general quality?

Most important? Pretty sure Valve haven't put much effort into building CS as a core franchise for .... well, since they bought it.

maybe it's because I havent really played since beta7 but I'm really liking this game. I certainly prefer it to CS:Source.

Having played all of 15 minutes of Counter-Strike in my life I'm looking forward to giving this a fair shot.

I assume I will ragequit at the lack of respawning, but I will go in with a positive attitude and am open to watching!

Hell, I suck at this game. We should have a mapcore playing group.

How about someone from Mapcore group just announces a CSGO game when it's happening, rather than make a new group for it?

All this would be easier if you all used either the steam group chat or IRC

    Agreed.

Let's be online in the MapCore steam group channel and announce any ongoing match

Done! MapCore CSGO steamgroup can be found here. I made it so that everyone can join, make group announcements and create group events.

    Have fun!

That's what I kind of tried to avoid with saying pretty much this: "Someone from Mapcore group should just announce CSGO games, without making new group solely for this." Also, your group states: "You don't have to be registered over at https://www.mapcore.org to join this group, but that kinda is the idea :)" which kind defeats the whole purpose of having "Mapcorian-only" matches in that group. There are probably already thousand and one groups for arranging CSGO games for random people. Here the deal was to have matches arranged for Mapcore people, the community folks, not just some random people.
