Did anyone else feel like the game was quite short for an Action RPG? I felt like I was just getting started, spent the entire game slowly accumulating special powers and just when i had some cool powers the game was over

Got 9 hours out of a single playthrough, longer than most games these days. Had all the powers I wanted by mission 3/4. I was so satisfied by this game that tbh I don't need thief 4.

Finished it 4 times now. I can now do time attack runs in 3-4 hours tops (which fwiw, you actually need to go to get some of the achievements like shadow and ghost)

It's definitely the best game of this year, hands down. It's a love letter to the old Looking Glass games, and it's a damn good one at that.

My Steam shows 57 hours played for my first playthrough. That consists of hundreds of reloads while experimenting with different approaches to each mission, before finally doing the non-leathal way. So I've basically already played the game at least two times through.

i just LOVE the art style, and on the latest BonusRound, they commpared this to Halo 4, and said that Dishonored ain't got that sweet graphics and light - OMG and those guys call them selfs game crits DAMN

but i hope this game get the GOTY !!

Basically my approach. Though I took the save-scumming to such an extreme, I think I soured my experience of the game. Anyone else do that? I dunno, when I can quicksave and load at any time I'm going to, I'm obsessive-compulsive like that. 's why I like "roguelike-ish" games, they force you to accept consequences when you screw up.

Oh well, I guess I'll change my playstyle next playthrough and just go with whatever happens. Like Mazy I'm kinda burned out after the last missions, so I'll stay away for a while.

Anyway, great game — gameplay-wise, at least. Everything just felt so good — the climbing and crawling mechanics, the combat, the stealth mechanics, and the powers. It all came together so well! I would have liked to target body parts manually in melee, though. And perhaps a kick button? I mean sure, we've got the whirlwind instead, but if the guards could do it…

The game's real failing is its storyline. In the end I didn't know any of the characters well enough to care much about them. There were hints here and there at something deeper, little clues and plot-threads that never lead anywhere. Giving the player more dialogue trees, and even better, letting Corvo speak would have helped immensely. As would expanding the post-betrayal part of the game. I can't be the only one who thought we'd be going to a new hub-world and spend another half of the game overthrowing the new regime?

The lore and world of Dunwall was sadly underutilized. A little more exposition here wouldn't have hurt — more interesting places to visit, like a whale-oil factory for instance. Maybe the books reveal more but books are for dorks Really though, way too many boring books in this game, lol…

Yup same here (did the same in Deus Ex), I'm more in favor of a checkpoint system but those have their flaws as well...

Whenever I hear the word "checkpoint" I reach for my pistol.

Quicksaves ftw! I want to experiment dammits.

i like both quicksave/load and checkpoints in the same game. what about a game that "unlocks" quicksave/load once you beat the game using the checkpoint system lol?

I think where dishonored succeeds is that you cannot really "fail" because of something out of your control, and it;s easy to recover from a mistake, so you don't actually get punished by having to reload back to an earlier checkpoint because of some arbitrary decision by a level designer. so many subtle things like this were done right in the game. those guys.. very clever

What annoyed me was that autosaves don't override quicksaves when you press f9. Sometimes when I hadn't quicksaved for a while, the quick load would send me back a level.

This game was awesome! Beat it on the PS3, althought I kept thinking how awesome would it be if I just got it for PC, it really felt it would be best experienced with a mouse, specially since the FoV on console is pretty narrow. (I assume you can change that on PC)

Other than that, it was an absolutely astonishing game! Read somewhere the game was actually pretty easy, so I played it on hard, and still found it not hard enough, but it was great fun. It has a lot of elements from games that are dear to me, Thief, DeusEx and other RPG elements that really make this an awesome game.

Also, one thing that really got my eye was the awesome textures. It felt like a grungier version of TF2, really beautiful texture work here, got me stare at a few for a while thinking how they nailed this style, some texture felt very "paintery" but not in a normal way, they probably used photoshop actions to turn photobased textures into the look they wanted, and worked on them from there.

Another thing that annoyed me, I played sleath (like I do with most games that allow me to do it) and I hated that see through walls mode, it almost ruined the game for me, it makes everything look dark yellow and horrible, it has a horrible low bass sound playing while it was active but it was too useful not to use it so I spent 60% of the game with it on. (I had this EXACT same critic to both batman games, there's always that fucking annoying sealth mode that makes everything too easy and tint everything not allowing you to look at the nice art of the game)

The FOV on the pc version sucks major cock bags and made me feel pretty ill. One day all developers will learn how to handle FOV and not let the rubber helmet wearing intern do it.

I'm loving the art and the level design, but I'm finding this game really frustrating (playing.. or trying to play stealthy). I throw bottles and shit to single out enemies, which usually works in stealth games... and 90% of the time they don't even respond, let alone go to check it out. Then I hit a wall with my knife and every single enemy comes to check it out. Jumping off a chain onto a platform is nearly impossible, enemy movements are a bit too random to know when to move in. Maybe I should just give up on the stealth idea.

In Batman I wouldn't use the visor more than the time needed to detect The Riddler clues and those other like scent. I'd use it to check the status of a guard around the corner to time my moves, but turning it off right after because I found the view more confusing than helpful while moving, plus the fact that it hides the nice art.
