I tried the AO trick last night. The incredibly minor increase in image quality didn't warrant the frame rate hit. In most situations you won't even notice it, and it causes other fun graphical oddities.
Anybody else doing this recently.....?

Pffff... but are you doing it from the steam overlay without ever quitting the game?!?

Yep, I had to set it to "performance" instead of "quality", works pretty well that way, maybe give it a go that way, it's worth it, the vegetation outside looks sooooooo much better, although I did find the effect a little bit exaggerated during the night or snowy areas.
I turned shadows to Low also, the SSAO does a much better job at shadows than those horribly implemented shadow maps.
Man, I am having so much fun with sneaking and my bow, fuck me! ![]()
Urgh. Just played for like an hour, fought a dragon to a tiny sliver of its health left, and then died because that health bar draining at the bottom of the screen is easy to miss when the entire rest of the screen is on fire.
Lost all that progress.
I'm started using the SSAO today, I feel the pro's massively outweigh the cons. The biggest problem I have are artefacts when foliage is fading in or it's foggy, and weird AO bands sometimes visible in the sky.
I get errors from Nvidia Inspector D:
Me on my horse, with the epic quality Glass armor I crafted and enchanted. Wearing the epic quality glass bow I made and enchanted myself.
Shit just dies so fast that I turned the difficulty up again.

eh.... So I haven't bought this yet cause I know the instant I do I will stop the other games I'm playing and I at least want to get through a bunch of them first. The really shitty part is that I don't think my laptop from last year will be quite optimal enough to really enjoy it. So shit, I gotta play on PS3 or 360. Suggestions? Was one of the platforms the "lead console" or does that shit not matter for this game?
DAMN YOU BETHESDA! Seriously...seems this and Arkham City are top GOTY candidates.
Thief seems like the hardest "class" to play. I have both my mage and thief at level 25 now and there's a pretty big difference between the two in terms of difficulty. I don't know if it's because I've happened to do more low-level quests lately (started on stormcloak questline), or if it's just because mages are stronger. I found mage far more fun (perhaps because of variety) to play than thief, despite having all the awesome assassination/sneak and archery perks on my thief.
The questlines seems a bit shorter in this game. I finished both thieves guild and dark brotherhood in just a few hours. and another thing; i hate it when the dark brotherhood members
Quotegets switched out with generic initiates. they don't have any personality
. the same goes for companions (but they're pretty much useless as mage because of friendly fire).

Well I would suggest against console versions, not only they look worse, you also lose the ability to mod the game and replay later with addition of good mods that are sure to come. Mods even made Oblivion into a decent RPG with proper balance instead of autolevelling on everything.
My horse got killed by a sabretooth. I hope they do horse armour DLC.

Take away their melee weapons and give them a bow. I do this even as a melee character because you can guarantee as soon as you start a power attack they’ll run in front of you.
Man, ghosts don't fuck around, and don't give two shits about your magic. Completely invulnerable to ice, and lightning barely did anything, and not only did it kill me before I realized, it did a special kill animation on me, and then did a spooky ghost laugh.
Fuck ghosts.
I find arrows win. Against everything.
expert? That assuming it uses the same rankings as locks ![]()
