Just finished it. Christ, that was intense. I don't think a game has ever more deserved expressions such as
and
Good puzzles, too. I can't wait to try out the SDK.

I tried the demo, creepy as hell!! If you let everything go and immerse yourself into the characters shoes, its one intense ride.

This is so good.
I played the demo (though purposely didn't finish it) and played the main game as far as the Wine Cellar. What I think is most notable is
QuoteI’ve loved every minute even though I’ve now played for a whole hour and nothing has really happened.
Those Frictional Games guys have some serious cojones.

Just played the demo, really dig it. Got pretty freaked out a couple of times. Totally getting this if they port it to consoles.
That said then I am suing them for ripping off my timeless classic: cs_meat2k :derp:

Well, from my experience I never feel as *involved* when I play on a console as I'm miles away from the screen with no headphones and lousy controls.

Well, I usually sit up close to my TV (which is a 46", so there's basically picture everywhere) and I have a pretty kickass sound system. But I see your point if you're sitting far away from the TV. I can never play racing games if I sit in the sofa, my response time gets all fucked up

-
I definitely feel more immersed and involved in the PC, especially for FPS games. On top of mouse/keyboard you get to play with headphones and on a more sitting position.
Back on topic I recommended this to my brother who loves horror games such as this and he's having a blast!

An actual argument for this working better on PC is the core prop interaction.

I’m surprised you haven’t sued id for such blatant thievery!

They're only five dudes at Frictional, plus contracted voice and music, and they nearly went broke just making the current version of Amnesia, and it's getting like zero attention in mainstream game media. It's not ever gonna happen ever.

Edit: I agree that PC is a more effective setting for horror, too. I can't think of a single console game that has got me consistently unnerved or afraid, beyond momentary stuff like jumping in RE when something jumps through a window or the chainsaw guy gets you from the side.

I dunno, getting plastered all over the main page of steam seems pretty good to me.

Going broke BEFORE release. The indie bundle was the only thing that kept them afloat until Amnesia could ship. Maybe in the future they'll balloon out and grow and start releasing on multiple platforms, but right now they're PC through and through. I mean, they've even got Linux versions. That's the PCest you can get!

Edit: The linux version thing reminds me, their custom engine is using OpenGL, another barrier to console versions, unless Sony's super open and forward with trying to get a port out of them.

Saw the demo trailer. Getting this for sure next Friday.

If anything it shows their code is probably in a good state to be ported. I don't think the porting itself is going to be the issue; it's going to be finding the publisher who is both willing to invest and not take their souls.
Also, DVDs are scarier than Blu-Rays because I’ve never been scared by a film I’ve watched on Blu-Ray.

Frictional propose a SDK

From what I've seen, then it's getting some massive exposure at the moment. Hope they do well, it really seems like they deserve it.
