It's a demo release, and not the full game, stop bitching. Valve is being nice and actually allow you to play the game before it's released.

I meant the advert/teaser was crap.
Additionally, they're not being nice. You can play the demo if you have bought the game...sort of defeats the idea of try before you buy.

(I wasn't talking to you, but that video was also crap)
Would you play parts of the game before release or wait until release day?
I guess most people want it asap, and then a "demo" is good.

I've seen demo walkthrough and... and...? Damn, it's so cheap, so past-gen, so oldschool and I can't see where's fun in it...

Did you actually play it? It's great fun and I think it looks quite good actually.

How's about dead island?

I didn't played it but I really want to. I even didn't have time to play L4D 1 so my opinion is based only on trailers/youtube walkthroughs.
Dead Island is fine but I'm doing something else.

Don't trust XBox videos, they make it way boring since the aim is all whack. I imagine they have reduced difficulty to compensate.

Has anyone else found that the melee weapons are too good? Someone was telling me he felt like an idiot walking around with a gun when someone running around holding down the 'fire' button with the machete was far more effective and got several times the amount of kills.
I brought the first game so I had something to play with my brother, until he went back to Call of Duty anyway. I was intrigued but found myself underwhelmed by the amount of content, especially with only two maps in versus. Once I'd finished a campaign I didn't feel like I wanted to play it again, especially as I actively dislike rank systems (or AI Directors as we now call them). I want to like L4D2, but I'm still not sure about it.

Depends on the situation. If there's just a few common in the streets, Melee is a good choice. However if you get horded the melee's will only work if their coming in though one small entrance or you're corner camping. A spitter soon ends this.
But I agree, their a bit too strong.

There's now a shorter campaign (Mainly designed for Vs.), and all of the campaigns are Vs. Enabled now for L4D1 + SUrvival mode.
And there's no real rank system in L4D1 or 2. Yes you can see leaderboards but only if you wanted to, and then it only ranks you against your friends.
I'd say wait for the L4D2 Demo, see what it's like. IMO: It's enough like L4D1 that it feels like the same situation/zombie apocalypse, but there's enough new gameplay tactics, weapons, models/resources/textures/sounds that it's fresh and exciting.
And you still get the old SI, but their fairly rare now so it doesn't even feel like you're fighting stuff from L4D1.
Just my $0.02

Well, I'll keep an eye on it. Though, I will explain the rank comment so I don't look like a lunatic. Rank is the name given to a mechanic that's been in games for several decades, particularly arcade games*, that changes the difficulty based on how good you are, or are not. The difference being it was hidden away from the player instead of given a marketing term.
The most obvious, extreme and hated example is Battle Garegga.
* Though not exclusively, Resident Evil is a good example.

I swear Valve is trying to make it so everyone owns TF2. Three sales of TF2 being $2.50?!

meh, l4d2 isn't worth 40 bucks..
i'll wait for the price drop

Find 3 friends and buy it in UK

Definitely agree with this, I've completed the whole Demo with just the machete, i did loose more health than my friends who were playing, but i got 30% more kills id say. I think they're overpowered because Valve has bigged them up as such a new feature so if they were not very useful some group of people would have complained.
