I'm sure some of you saw this announcement today. The idea is that when you subscribe you get access to a high end computer over the net, which you will have a 720p video feed to and be able to remote control.
Its a very interesting concept, and one that has definitely been floating around for a while. I'm still extremely skeptical about it, since fast paced games really leave no room for slow response times, and unless their "7 year in the making revolutionary tech" really is something different, then I find it hard that it'll be possible on a 5m/bit connection like they're saying.
That's not to say that it isn't interesting, even if it has thick Phantom smell about it
. I'm on a nearly 5 year old computer and I'm thinking of getting a new computer, and I'd much rather get a slick Macbook Pro and use something like this the few times I play PC games, rather than buying some dull generic mid-range gamer PC that probably wont be able to keep up that long anyway. What further makes this intriguing is that number of publishers that are supporting this, its a pretty substantial list.
