it is true that america is cheaper, but how does that equate to a "direct" exchange? rather, when they add taxes and everything on top, the price is marginally the same; see example by hourences. it's not a valid argument and it definitely does not justify the general simplification of 1 dollar being as much worth as one euro, let alone a pound sterling.

also: the pound isn't really that strong. last week i could get some of it at 1:1 ratio for euro, hence why the first ones in the G of B are thinking about joining the Euro already...

i think things are moving world of goo and cod4 two games i wanted to buy have just reduced their price by roughly 25% cod is now 37,49 and goo is 14,99 and in the shopping card price listing it doesn't look like its adding any tax the estimated subtotal is the same as the individual unit price. can anybody with an us account confirm that cod is still 49 .99 and goo 19.99 ?

on that german hl newssite i just read its some christmas special offer ending on 2nd january 2009 - i guess thats why its cheaper now

Yeah, until January 2nd, all games are 10%-75% cheaper. Just bought Unreal Deal for 20€ .. which is more expensive than $20 of course, but still much cheaper than without the holiday sales price.

this is true actually, my bad. i hadn't noticed the drop of the pound sterling; i assumed the prices were those from just about two months ago.

Yeah, VAT is now included in the price.

Regarding the christmas discount I just took advantage of it to get BioShock which I never got around to play and now I got it for less than 5 bucks! That's a damn good deal if you ask me.
