Got it yesterday, went into it with extremely low expectations but I've been pleasantly surprised so far. I expected a really sloppy cash-in on the first Bioshock, but so far the weapons and locations actually feel pretty cool. The environment art is pretty fucking uneven though, some bits look really good but overall the proportions of things are just all over the place, but I guess that's a criticism you could level against the first Bioshock as well.
But I'm happy that I decided to pick up after all, it's rare that I actually get surprised like this with games these days~

Just finished it. I'll just say it again; I really had it wrong about this one, had totally written it off as a cheap cash-in, but it actually turned out to be a really enjoyable game, and game play wise I actually think it's better than the first one. Totally preferred the weapons in this one to the ones in the first one, plus the plasmids just seemed to work better in combat this time around.
I'll admit it though, the story wasn't very well told or at least I had an extremely hard time keeping up with all the logs and bits and pieces of info towards the end of the game. Didn't detract from the game at all though, especially since it'd be hard to follow up something as spectacular as the first half of Bioshock 1 anyway.
Definitely recommendable, even if you're on the fence about it

i just got the special edition today, and i've gotta say that it's one of the finest collector's i've seen in a while. it contains exactly what a collector's edition should, without all the gimmicks you usually get. from that standpoint alone, it is worth getting as a developer (or future developer).

I finished it the other week. No where near as good as the first but far better than anything else that's out there at the moment. Although, I don't think any Bioshock sequel can top the original. Only System Shock 2 managed that when Ken was at his peak.

You know what would be awesome?! System Shock 3!

DONT JINX IT

I haven't tried it myself yet, but the director for this one is the level designer of Fort Frolic from the first game, my favorite level. So it can't be all bad
