Seriously, that would be a cool idea for a texture contest.

Someone gives source texture and everybody pimps it, best wins.

... then 3 weeks after the compo is done everybody starts thinking what to do with it. Also, there is texture competition on g-a.net atm.

I took that window shot just a few blocks away from my apartment

I like nooba's version the most, I'd just change the green'ish hue on the glass.

ifo: Thanks for noting that, I'll make sure to fix it.

We could have a pack of like 5 or 6 different photos and people should make a texture set out of those 5 photos only. It's amazing how knowing the right tricks and shortcuts allows you to achieve any results you want. Neat idea tbh and I'm all up to it

Interesting style. Looks like some kind of bronze material too. I only think it feels a bit "undiffused" I guess. I don't mean you should cream on with a lot of dirt and stuff. Or even worn edges. But something more perhaps.

That wall with a hole in it does have a very interesting design

well i dunno - I think the black pattern would have a little depth - just from the type of tile it is, the other colours and patterns maybe not so much, but a tiny bit on the black doesn't do any harm imho.

Here are some "source - final texture" comparisons from my first texture set for Doom3/Quake 4:

Note: Sorry about the size, a little big for forum posting.

You can see those textures implemented here:

those are some nice textures. i don't like the first one. it is too grainy/noisy. maybe you could make it a bit more decent.
