    Thanks alot killertomato! I've had a very good friend of mine here tonight, he let me do some scans of his face and body. Here is some material of this night's experimental harvest:

    so let me get this straight...you take a video of something and run it through some bath process type deal you made and it outputs an awesome normal map for you?

    hah.. nice way to say that you were making out all night

    seriously though it looks like very decent results. but the normalmap doesnt look like it will work on a 3d mesh. prove me wrong by posting a 360 turnaround video

    This is something I was thinking about - the scanning process used by some studios output's a completed model, whereas this seems to give a normal map which you then have to model around. Is this right, or am I missing something?

    i think you can load normalmaps in zbrush and have them convert to model?

    stupid little panel I did for my insurgency map. I tried to keep it as close to stereotypes as possible

    It seems like you guys are confusing two different methods with each other.

    SnipaMasta: first of all, this is not meant to produce models. It is meant to produce normal maps to apply as materials on models. This method is quite simply tailored for the way I work. It differs no way from taking photo references for making diffuse texture maps such as, in this case, faces. You simply manipulate the reference to fit the UV structure. I wish I could post one of my face normal maps so you would get the idea but I'm not at home for the time being, so I will take some previous postings as example:

    =>

    [Blocked Image: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/2964/zombie3ur0.jpg]^ [Blocked Image: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/3669/zombie10bmf4.jpg]

    (One of the very early versions of the map appliance:)

    [Blocked Image: http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/6015/zheadnv2.jpg]

    Aslo, as a parenthesis, I think you are cofusing this method with my height map scanning technique - please don't because they differ quite alot (the latter technique however allows for model instantiation).

    Sa74n: Hopefully what I just explained will answer your question too.

    Nice aevirex, but looks to synthetic.

    A new texture, normalmap with crazybump.
