really like the color palette and contrast, good work. if there's anything i could say it would be that it (like most of your other paintings with buildings) has too much of a non-organic look when it comes to the buildings. they're straight lines, which takes away some of the image immersion. also, it looks slightly sharpened?
-
i rather like his buildings alot :}
-
looks like times square? any inspirtion perhaps?

Thanks for the comments!
New one! Quick sketch for a UDK scene I'm working on. This is more of an attempt to set a mood rather than defining shapes (which are already modeled and placed in UDK).
I'll start studying anatomy soon btw. I really need to improve on that!

Reminds me of the Citadel from Mass Effect 2!

Yes. I tried to set it appart from ME but I couldn't help I guess
I was going to make it a little bit brighter but then I decided to fiddle with levels and the sketch looked much better this way. The ingame version will probably be brighter. -
Minos! That's really good! I like the composition (in combination with the colors). Only thing is, that figure on the left is kind of, bad. Weird proportions

Yes it's horrible haha. I definitely need to practice human anatomy. We are going to have drawing workshops here at the office regularly with live models and shit, so that's gonna be awesome!
It looks even worse because I squeezed the image vertically a bit to improve perspective and I couldn't be arsed to repaint the human figures.

Oh that's a lot of fun, i've had a million of those classes and the last was as nice as the first. Weirdest thing is afterwards when the model walks around looking at drawings, especially when you've just made a drawing of only boobies

This is not mine of course but pretty useful I think. Step by step paintover on a level blockout: http://ewkn.deviantart.com/art/Xoran-Tutorial-157442559

Nice, a bit of obvious stretching on the ground texture you used though =P.

I never noticed Feng Zhu had put up cool tutorials on his page before. Check them out, they are amazing! http://www.fzdschool.com/announcement_f ... icle22.htm

omg I haven't updated this thread in almost 3 years! Some really crappy stuff in here but I'll leave it all as legacy lol
Anyway, been trying to get back to concept painting again. This was supposed to be a thumbnail but I got carried away and decided to take it further. Really regret not resizing it up before going in detail (that's why it looks kind of blurry). Not the most exciting design ever but I learned a thing or two

Will try to do a lot of value studies and thumbnails in the coming days, those really help to get more confidence!

Nice! Can't wait to see more, love seeing how far you've come in terms of line creation and focusing your detail.
