We'll forget what soviet cars looked like.

Remember when Coca Cola took santa claus and made him red? They didn't care about Jesus Christ and what colors he liked! And now no one remembers that Santa was actually black.

ehh, I just think its a bit lame so many assets are just stock with a Hi rez retaxture and some wear thrown on. He made sure to individually model and texture those leaves but major piece of cover that you look at all the time are still the exact same. Even the bomb crates are pretty lame. Yeah the hi rez yellow strap is cool and all but did he really have to stick with the exact same over used missile crate props with a slight detail texture applied. My least favorite thing has to be that god awful source crate texture that should have been removed in the his original version. Ok cool its a remake of the original texture on a new hi rez prop, neat you couldn't have tried something new to show off your obvious modeling talent.

What? Blizzard being fuckos and caring more about their share prices and market value then their players? Theyve never done that before. An American company pandering to the Chinese? Unthinkable.

So Breach and Ruby have been removed and Mirage and Cache are now available for Scrimmage matchmaking.

Likely prep for Cache 2.0 then eventually +cache - mirage assuming all goes well, Ruby being taken out completely could be seen a mile away but breach goes to just casual? So fuckin seaside of all maps remains as the only community map in MM other then Agency. Also zoo is still in casual for some reason.

Well right off the bat im seeing black windows that appear to be at the same level as player heads, that ledge over by t side boost is ridiculous, the advantage you got from dropping onto the pipe was countered by not letting you get back up to the top of box, now not only is there a bigger advantage but the ledge it self doesnt even make sense. The ladder in ct boost area is a bad idea on 2 levels, 1 its slanted and 2. its a ladder, a source ladder. I think it at the very least should be a jump up, but really it should be a boost, its obvious it was added with a ladder because a T-boost is going to happen every round in pro league but in lower levels you cant expect good enough team work to be able to boost, mean while you'll always have to deal with the shelf sniper once you smoke off main. the lamp and pipe self boosts on b site is going to be a disaster, you remember how fun clearing rafters was in the old version of nuke, well here is a worse version of that, where at least 1 guy has to divert their attention away from the site it self to check heaven, lamp and pipe, also hoping that the player heaven wont peak them when they finish checking it.

Granted pipe boost seems to more advantageous for t side and is cleared by just looking at the site, the question is, is that going to be fun to have to check pipe when you cant find the last guy hiding somewhere in a post plant scenario. Ill have to see how hard it is to make the jump but it seems like itll be like if you could self boost onto ninja arch on b-site inferno by just hopping on a box next to it.

ill have to wait for the map to come out on the 10th but it seems like some very rookie-level mistakes were made, its graphically superior to grey old Cache, but in many ways it strangely resembles the first iteration you showed here. Also que reddit spamming about how grass cant grow indoors.

The current EU reps are so eerily similar to those congress members trying pass SOPA back in 2011. They kind of have good intentions but are so out of touch with what they are ruling over that they dont see the obvious flaws with what they are trying to pass. John Bain asked in 2011 why old men who could barely use a keyboard be allowed to make such radical restrictions on the internet, well today why are people who seem out of touch with their own home countries making laws that affect not only every EU member, but nearly every country in the world? I think the EU as a whole is a good idea but this current batch of reps seems so strangely inept at understanding basic concepts and nearly every EU citizen ive seen hates their own rep.

Except they did. People were screaming for the mp5 since launch, until it was released not a week went by where there wasnt at least 1 reddit or steam forums posts asking for it. People also asked for a revolver and an automatic pistol before those were added, not as much as the mp5 but it was still a common request.

All anybody was talking about before it came out was a cs battle royal, people thought the game was dying and since BRs were the only popular games at the time they wanted to see a cs BR. Now granted many of those same people were disappointed in Danger Zone but they were still asking for a BR and they got one. Bottom line is, even thought you might not have wanted them, alot of other people did.

I also want to see new Valve maps but you know as well as I do that any new unique layout they would produce would be bad for at least a year. It was like that for overpass and cobblestone, even more so for canals. The community actively deincentivizes them to make new maps, but I want to see them.

I agree that it would be cool to see new competitive gamemodes, just like scrimmage or recently dangerzone which has ranks.

It starts dealing damage before you hear the "ow" noises, so you think you are safe but you about to die. You see it in pro league quite a bit. They are also very hard to see through unless you use higher shading, but sacrifice that 240 fps. The insane vertical spread is not really a problem but it just adds to the klunkiness and unpredictability.

No one gives a crap about the game modes if they have over 1k hours. When is the last time you have played them? The mp5 is directly worse to the mp7, it fell off fast. The new viewer system is somehow worse than the old one, souvenirs are dead.

I have played indie games that have been releasing major updates at quadruple the rate for years. Here in csgo we get breadcrumb updates that don't affect 99.99% of the playerbase every week. Loss bonus is one of the only major updates that affected comp in any way and you didn't mention it.

People think valve is calculating every move behind the scenes but they come out with shit like dz, the mp5, and the r8.

??? Scrimmage is pretty popular, its unranked match making after all. I like Danger Zone, it usually has 2000 players queing at any given time of day. But it doesnt matter whether you think people like them or not, those are major updates that all came out less then a year ago, +more that I didnt mention. You claimed they hadnt added anything major in years, I showed you were wrong.

This actually some reddit tier cringe posting from you. Valve hasnt added anything you like therefor they havnt added anything at all. "OH but nobody likes all these news things because I dont like them so it doesnt count" Change Fire Spread and aim punch to 128 tick and fix vac and may as well be copy pasted directly from reddit.

I mean if you dont count the new 2 gamemodes (dangerzone and scrimmage) the mp5, all the new dangerzone items, and the new drop/viewer pass system, all added less then a year ago, then yeah they dont add a whole lot.

I also fail to see how fire spread is fucked, it spreads bade on how lands, more of it goes in front, it eventually evens out behind.

I dont really get what you mean by that? Is it too smooth? I dont really think gittering up stairs is all that better, even in games where they smooth out the transition. Youre somewhat right with player models. ON the one hand older maps were seemingly designed without the player models in mind, since they were designed back when they were using the beta seal team and elite crew models for every map , so you get instances like office where its dimly lit already then they go and put the Anarchists on there as the T-faction with dark jeans and a black hoodie. At the same time the remade player models combined with remade maps do stick out pretty good, the idle animation they use also makes it to where they never truly stop moving which helps them stick out. But even still at a distance any and all player models tend to star to blend in with any environment because they lose resolution.

The obvious answer to me would be an inline like they use for x-ray, the negative against would be that players couldnt hide where the might have been able to before. At the same time are player models blending in really that huge of an issue anymore? ITs true that maps have to be brightly lit, but is that really a bad thing? Having gone back and played CSS a few times, its strange just how remarkably bad the dark areas are. Ive played a number of old games where lighting in areas was near non-existent and it ruined the gameplay. I personally prefer being able to see over atmosphere

While youre certainly right about CS being behind with some features, its dangerously close to ones where people argue CSGO isnt up to date because you cant aim down sites or sprint.

Very good work with that UI, though maybe it could be subtler? I know this is a custom gamemode and because of that their are restrictions to what you can do, but on regular gamemodes the UI isnt so up in your face, maybe remove the glow on the VIP ui and make the escape zone UI less "glowey"

still excited to see this released though, keep it up.

To clarify my use of the word dirty, I mean overgrown vegetation out of map, a sewer water leak here and there, normal mapped mud with reflections. Pretty much everything that can make a dirty map look equally pleasing to the industrial/sterile maps without looking too clean to be true. Source has problems with most of these things. No jabs, just what I have noticed.

I dont really think thats true, almost every source game up until current CSGO has used grunge, its just ages faster then other elements because of how outdated some of the techniques are. If you look at sirocco there are certain new grunge elements that look good because they used newer techniques to avoid the blocky flat look. I think Valve intentionaly chooses to use minimal grunge in csgo A. because players want clean environments that allow them to see player models easy and B. many of us still have a sour taste from over-used grunge in both early community maps and the older source maps. I agree that many of the new valve maps look squeaky clean in even areas that should be dirty but they do that just because it looks and plays nicer. If they cared more about ascetics then gameplay you can bet you'd see more grunge used so they could show off how "modern" and detailed the source engine is.

Im talking grenade/movement physics. Pro players threw a hissy fit because of how differnt it was in source and then threw another one because of how differnt go did it. Source 2 uses a differnt physics engine so the prevailing theory is that players would need to learn all new grenade line ups and relearn movement.

Also, inclusion of physics props is completely up to the mapper. The piss poor source materials push map makers towards modern and/or minimalist styles if they want their map to look presentable, while truly grungey and dirty themes are almost impossible to pull of and look like they were made in this decade. Just because there are some uncompetitive features doesn't mean you are forced to implement them.

Working ingame Lighting Preview Faster/Improved 3D Preview Importing feature for VMF files (Maps from old Hammer) Undo-History New Chooser for Models and other Assets (Asset Browser) Map size is no longer limited to Grid size Maps dont have to be closed to work Clipping tool preview Moving and Transform functions for Brushes are now more like in "real" 3d modelling Programs like 3DS Max. For example: You can specify the pivot Point of a brush [/list] If you have ever touched hammer, this would probably make you excited. Also, the engines capabilities are all around improved, mainly because of vulkan, and its astounding ability to actually use your gpu.

Frame differences between a 1080ti and a 1050 running csgo with an i7-8700k are around 10 on average in my rig. This means that source 2 can actually afford to look better because it will retain its framerate due to the gpu being used. It is still by no means impressive or cutting edge, as there are other engines like Anvilnext that can do all of this with realistic destruction and maintain insane fps. Better than a 15 year old piece of shit ?

Edit: Acceleration and velocities can pretty much be replicated in source 2 while feeling just as if not more responsive.

Im saying I have no faith in Valve to port over already existing features that they just dont happen to use or remember. If they could guarantee a hammer update that included everything we already had/ an equivalent + the new features, that would be great but I doubt it would happen. They didnt even remember to include the Nav mesh building UI, the spectator flashbang overlay or the use of spectator overview images when the made the jump to panorama and that was just the stuff you actually see regularly. It took them 4 years to re-add toggleable lights and they only added it back because they needed it for Phoenix Compound and im supposed to think theyll remember to port over every side entity and feature to a new hammer?

The coop sounds fun, I was actually playing a community coop map with friends a few days ago. I also hope the weapons are coop only if they are released as none really seem like they have a place in comp. I really hope wearables don't become a thing, the contrast is already bad enough at times.

An engine switch would be very sexy and it would be nice to work with an engine that is a little less antique. My ideas are always too ambitious for source and it takes me hours to execute one complex area with valid geometry and on grid verts, and then I end up scrapping it because the map is not unique enough, not thematically consistent or logical, or has inherent balance issues. I want to fuck up faster and in style.

My alts have more. See you in silver soldiers.

The tac-21 predates any coop gamemode, the others are all very easily just cut survival weapons. But I also dont see how a spatula will really mess with the cs formula if it was in the base game.

As much as im sure everyone here would love to work with something from this decade, a source 2 update in reality just results in less features for us the mappers (do to valves failure to port over entities or code that isnt used in the main part of the game) and more bugs for the player base to deal with. That ontop of the physics and lighting changes that would completely change the way the game is played in the pro scene.
