So you just run the GOTV demo (or POV demo?), open console and type "demoinfogo" ?

    LOVE IT! Haha!

The thing is, that must be something different about the BOT AI because that area wouldn't be in the nav mesh. Firstly the drop is too great, but if it was in the mesh, they would jump into the water periodically, regardless of bomb...

I'll probably work the scenery to allow for the vista, but somehow stick with the theme and prevent anything running/throwing off the map... Maybe some scaffolding for work being done on an old building, just... made of bamboo or something. I can't say I am currently familiar with Tibetan scaffold techniques.

The MW2 airport scene caused huge controversy but covered a story, this is just senseless killing, no tongue in cheek about it. As far as I can tell there's not even a story, it's how long you can go on a rampage for until you die. Violence depicted in video games is already balancing on a knife's edge without a game like this baiting the clucking media into a frenzy.

No doubt, some nutter who will shoot up a school will have played this and that will reflect badly on any game that shows the remotest part of violence. Typically it wouldn't be the games fault, it would be the disturbed individual who bought it because he wanted to do something like this.

But for me it's all about context, GTA, Dishonoured and others don't rely on the core element of you wiping out everything in sight.

And "a killer is a killer" is a totally whacked statement. It's not the killing that's the problem it's the fact that you choose to play a game where you can do this. A game like this shouldn't and doesn't need to exist.

Only bad things will come of it.

Not a problem with the map more the bot logic.

It's a big problem for trolling though... I know if someone runs off vertigo with the bomb it magically appears near the place they fell off. But I should add bomb block there to just in case someone has the urge to be a tool.

Having said this, I don't believe de_seaside prevented anything with all it's water...

Do they still update the Nexus 5? Maybe it's just that there's no big announcement that seems to me like they're just dropping it.

Oh, the Nexus Q was dropped right before release, due to feedback of having too little, according to wikipedia. Chromecast actually gained traction alongside Apple TV, which I don't think the Fire TV really did. Did the Fire TV get anywhere? It was leaning so much on "gaming" features when anyone who cares about games is just going to get a PS4 or Xbox One and use that for media+games. Chromecast just makes sense, in the end, you only need the power for video and stuff. I really doubt the Player is going to go anywhere.

My fiance's dad was looking into it, and from what I understand from him it sold out on release. I haven't seen much about it so I presume it might not have been too incredible.

I disagree about the gaming just going for PS4 or Xbox One, those consoles cost a lot, and for me who does most of his gaming in front of a computer a £99 android console is very appealing. I myself have an OUYA! The way I see it is that most of what is on consoles (apart from "exclusives") are just cut down versions of what we have access to on PC anyway, and android console offers a different range of games. The ouya has spawned some fantastic little games that also don't cost £50 each, Towerfall and Bomb Squad are immensely fun. Also the chromecast still has it's place along side this Nexus Player (rubbish name imo). While I'm sure it will serve the same purpose plus more, if you have multiple TVs you want to use across the house chromecast is much cheaper to cover them all. The nexus 5 is the second most recent release which if not reason enough to be updated (they're even giving nexus 4 5.0) it's also listed in the new press release for the 6 and 9. Each new iteration of android still manages to reach back to the Nexus 4 which is good, sadly I don't think a lot of manufacturers will put the same effort in to increase the longevity of their older devices, that'll be left to 3rd party support with custom ROMs.

They follow market trends, and people keep buying bigger phones so bigger they get!

    Quote from Marcem

when do we get small phones again? Also wtf 2560p display who the hell needs that? why not use less battery/graphics resources? It's not like any app is going to use that resolution for anything but high dpi text/images, and any game will run like hot garbage.

I have large hands, and I think that 5 inch phones are a bit too big, also I don't need cargo pants to carry a normal sized phone.

Also wtf why Nexus Player? Didn't the Nexus Q tank enough already? Also I'm pretty sure every other android "console" tanked.

They still make smaller phones, they just aren't the flagship models. I think technically the display would be 1440p as it's a 16:9 ratio and would be expected to be used in landscape for full potential.

I've actually made a paper prototype of it to see how it is to hold, and they've done a good job, it isn't that much wider than a nexus 5. Think half a cm wider and 1cm taller than HTC One M7.

The nexus Q was a different device which didn't tank, they pulled it before it rolled out, so i believe the only models around are pre-orders and developer previews. This is a set top box to fight right at the Apple TV and Amazong Fire TV level, although I can't say much for the quad core 1.8GHz atom sitting inside it. I personally prefer the chromecast for low cost and ease of use, but I'll reserve judgement on this until I see it in action as I didn't think Apple TV or Fire TV had much on the chromecast either.

The same link shows new Nexus 9 and the Nexus 5 with android L, although stocks of that are fairly limited.

BONUS: stumbled across it on a loophole with my mobile somehow, but not shown to the UK at least, there is also Nexus Player!

Version 8 has already been playtested but I hadn't updated the thread, so this is catch up.

Here are a few changes that were made based on feedback:

Clearer route towards B (I think I'll reshuffle that area again as the ramp is currently a bit makeshift and I can't yet see a way to integrate it with the theme.

Slightly new layout on A, mainly due to the removal of the mid>A ladder room, but also showing the increased internal height of bombsite A and raised platform to the left of the screenshot works nicely with the window.

Internal view of increased bombsite A height. I thought the windows could be utilised for creative nades, defensively and offensively.

I've removed the lower doorway on mid into the CT apartments, and made the box jump much easier. The box height is within the acceptable distance for a nav mesh to be drawn over it as well, so if bots can jump it, so can you!

The full update is listed in the , and here is the workshop link

I'm still looking for a few 5v5s with a variety of people and skills, so if you'd like to help please get in touch!

    Thanks

    Hey osKo

glad to finally see a thread

I've drawn over your radar to give you an idea of the changes I would suggest:

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/iHF99AW.png]

The long red line shows a huuuuuuge sight line that you could probably break up a bit

The red scribble boxes show the underground area I meant that offered a lot of weaving backwards and forwards which I felt made it quite maze like and detracted from bombsite A, which I think is a very interesting setup! So let the T's get down the side route and then have a choice to go direct to the bombsite or underground.

The green box with arrow is my suggestion of pulling the alternative A route towards T spawn a bit, you could pull the door archway closer, or the entire area, just something will probably help. While the little wall helps Ts get through without too much damage, the route is just very long. The timing as well is unfortunate because Ts can be shot from CTs rushing A and their end of that route and by CTs who sit on their corner of mid.

I'd make bombsite B more central, and definitely make it clearer where to plant. I saw most people just plant on the pipework (which as a side note, doesn't look very authentic ) or just run around.

Green arrow near B is to suggest another route into B.

Purple box suggests moving the B area closer to Ts which actually applies to bomb site A as well. CTs should be closer, but if you time the flashpoints for the start of the round, the CTs engage the Ts on the T side of the bombsite before Ts can even split their attack up to come at different angles.

I'm also not entirely sure what purpose the mid apartments serve. You have to run back up mid to enter them, and as a T they take you back to mid (but higher up) or onto the B path where your team will be if they had run from spawn anyway.

I don't want this to seem like a negative post, I think both bombsites are great and the map has good potential. It's just a few hitches with how the map flows is all

I hope my suggestions make sense, and keep up the good work

I've been here since June 2014! I managed to somehow stumble across it when I was googling things regarding mapping (I think I found the playtest page?) as I was starting to take a job in this industry far more seriously when trying to jump ship from my far less fulfilling career path in computer science...

I didn't really know what mapcore had to offer at the time, but everyday it surprises me with a new level of depth! Even if I can't cobble together the experience to get a job in this scene, I've still found an awesome community

Aside from the mosque/Italian village inconsistency I think it looks visually promising, but I would just say that the map looks very CT biased.

It's not very large with all site entry positions very close together allowing the entirety of the CTs to stay very close and rotate very quickly, there's no real need for them to hold any forward angles. That monstrously long sight line between the spawns in what would be mid is basically suicide, with no obvious pay off for risking going down it.

Also it's very open with very few roofed areas so one awp sitting near CT spawn could cover the majority of each site and rain grenades/smokes/flashes down all day.

I think you should probably try and note down all the different aspects of a map that need to be considered, and rework your layout from that.

I have no doubt that the map will look very nice when it's finished though
