Iv recently mentioned on another thread, as someone that can literally count the number of anime films iv watched with both hands, (i guess the environment iv been brought up in) watching anime has kinda always been regarded for children/childish.. but the few that i have seen/ properly sat down and watched.

    • akira (a must watch imo)
    • ninja scroll (another i enjoyed)
    • a couple of street fighter films (not bad)
    • cowboybeepbop (keep fekn falling asleep everytime i try to watch but enjoyed what i have seen of the film^^)
    • Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend (1 of the first films with ninja scroll a friend showed when i was young.. this 1 kinda fuked me up when it came to manga/anime^^)
    • ghost in the shell (seen 1 or 2 of these films very enjoyable)
    • BLADE RUNNER 2049 - Black Out 2022 (have to mention this just because im a big BR fan and i thought the 3 shorts released especially this short anime was magical!)

aside from old anime tv cartoons? and being a fan of the art in old manga books and lone wolf and cub (if that is classed as anime books?) thats pretty much my list, but i do love the styles (especially older 80's n 90's anime) and ovc have seen/heard other things from anime stuff but never properly sat down and watched, so i would love to see some more recommendations from folk. will defo check out Evangelion (iv seen a few folk mention its not bad) any more for non anime heads ?

Over the last week or so iv had an urge to play some old retro games from my childhood like doom, blood or even good old duke but came across this and its just released today! and (quote) its "the first full game to be made using the Build Engine in over 20 years!" Brilliant .. might jst pick this up when i get the chance.

On 8/12/2019 at 5:16 PM, Interfearance said: I bought this tutorial to try to learn the ins and outs of blender modeling. However I have run into a problem. When working in ortho views in xray, the back of the mesh shows up and it becomes difficult to determine the depth of the mesh. Creating the overall form has been really time consuming because of this. If I turn xray off the reference is blocked. Is this something I just have to get used to or is there a workaround?

I would say the quickest and easy way would to just lasso select "Ctrl+drag" the backend polys and to jst hide them with "H" then when you need to unhide them jst "Alt+H".. though you can adjust the ref image or background image within its tab to have the image focus infront of the model or change its alpha ect, you would need to play around with it for your own preference but changing the ref to "front" & "xray off" will let you beable to see the ref while still having a wireframe (like) view and no backend polys of your model showing (until you put on xray).

I remember first seeing/hearing of AKIRA from some old comic a friend gave to me when i ws young and still remember first seeing that film, the art was brilliant but also the music within the film was incredible! im not a big anime film fan (probably due to the lack of watching any) and can count the number of anime films iv watched with both hands but aside from the lone wolf n cub books & ninja scroll film i read and watched years ago ... akira was something special. evangelion looks good though, maybe about time to get myself into watching some anime, i do love art ? Heres also a couple of things iv watched recently (youtube adventuring^^) = it really is a mad and interesting world (this is a gd few years old and the guy has since been working with university's to try and help venom victims)

Iv been kind of reluctant to totally switch from an old custom build of blender 2.7 and with alot of ol addons & my own pref hotkeys mapped out, but have spent the last few nights getting upto speed with 2.8 (which isnt a huge change iv jst bn lazy) but there is just 1 addon by Lluis Garcia (blender to ue4) that is stopping me from totally switching to 2.8 just because how great and simple it was. I have tryed out Xaviers ue4 addon and although it is a good tool and no disrespect but my OCD kicks in^^ and feel with so many pulldwn menu's and naming tags it could be simplified (this ovc is just my own opinion & ovc the tool is catering for the masses + free)

Does anyone know of any other free or payd ue4 addons for 2.8 they can recommend? (iv tryd to contact Lluis to find out if he has any plans to update his addon but seems he hasnt been very active with the addon for a few years) and my lack of python knowlage is by-far not enough to update the addon myself.. but hey.. with so much support blender has been getting with 2.8 im sure there will soon be a lot more addons & tools on the way and its really is awsome to see!!

really nostalgic in a sense, i had some great memories with a lil group of lads jst messing around and having fun skating and meeting some brilliant people from around the world.. but this also reminded me i had an old board setup kicking around somewhere and on friday afternoon i was inspired to take my son out and let him ride a sk8board for the first time... I swear it was magical, just seeing how much fun he had and watching him mess around on the board.. he keeps asking to go sk8ing again^^ (sorry to go alil offtopic) wanted to share that with you awsome folks and also i know what it's like to get caught up in 3d and game dev stuff jst remember to have a break ?

For me ff7 will always hold a place as 1 of (my) all-time favorite's and only by picking this game up on a whim when being rushed out of a game shop (by family) while initially aiming for tekken 2 maybe 3? but being a 2 for £20 or 30 quid special, i literally jst grab it because of the cover^^ never played n RPG in my life until then.. i remember first playing it and defeating the scorpion then switching it off thinking wtf is this sht^^ after a couple of days actually sitting down and giving it a chance..Damn! spent a long time as a youngster playing this while going through some real bad times, guess it makes it that bit more special.. Although like alot im sure seeing a remake brings back alot of memories for alot of folk around the globe some part of me feels it's one of those things that shouldnt be touched or try to be remade.. but hey it is! and it's looking good and interesting to see it isnt just going to be a total "remake" but adding more modern things. Lets i hope it goes well cause this game was huge on the PS & to modern standards i cant even imagine!^^..

@blackdogNot got much input on the bilingual stuff (guess that would come with the raising and probably come natural if/when surrounded when raising) but from my own experience me and my gf had afew names in mind (also not knowing the gender) .. me being abit of a simplton wanting to keep the name common in a sense^^ ie scott, brian or claire etc..etc.. my gf was hitting out with alsorts of names i dont even want to get into^^ but when my son was born and we both looked at him, my gf (in the midst.. after jst giving birth) mentioned bailey.. we both looked at him and i honestly felt fk yeh bailey it is^^. That was just us but food for though (in a sense) maybe keep afew names in mind but when the child is born go what feels natural to you both.. been drinking a lil but hope that makes some sense^^ all the best.
