@Ringel you should apply as QC at closet Ubisoft to you. You seem to be a natural for bug finding. Then you can work your way up to level design.

"Bram Eulaers, a 3D Artist at Valve, has made a similar pilgrimage. “Being a Half-Life 2 fan has helped quite a bit with regard to knowing the story, and having done tons of Half-Life 2 modding back in the days helped me understand the design philosophies,” he says. “Joining Valve has felt more like coming home than going on a new journey.”"

You know, this is, excuse me, a damn fine hostage rescue map! I've played, I can't tell you how many hostage rescue maps in my life, and this, this is one of the best.

What do you think that shooter will look like?

To be fair, I don't think they have much of a choice if they plan to operate at their current level or keep expanding. In the past they have pretty much put all their eggs in one basket, which was a bit risky. Luckily, it's paid off because of the incredibly great work they've done, but I don't know how the sales numbers look for their games during the first year. Now we're seeing a Remedy that is trying to expand its portfolio and experience in different genres. It's not a bad move, as long as they don't stray too far from what made them special to begin with.

Yeah, also heard about that Destiny-like live service they are doing. Honestly, I think they might be able to do something that stands out. I was pretty impressed with the art direction in Control. It's a shame I wasn't into the level design and gameplay as a whole. Maybe I'll appreciate it 5 years from now.

"Revenue at Finnish games studio Remedy was up almost 60 per cent year-on-year in 2019 thanks to new title Control.

That's according to the company's financial report for the year, which saw the firm making €31.6m ($34.14m) for the 12-month period, while operating profit saw a colossal 973 per cent hike to €6.5m ($7.02m)."

Looks like Remedy is on a roll with Control and the deal to develop the sp component for CrossfireX

Would be a step forward to see these games that rely heavily on monetization practices as well as pay walls, like mobile games, be separated from the mainstream. In general, just seeing loot boxes be abolished would be a step forward. It was pretty funny when he made that comparison to Vegas. I got the sense that he was expecting people to laugh a bit. Interesting concept about opening platforms and allowing people to be able to play the same instance of a game from any device. Overall, I thought it was an honest talk and he made a good point about having those uncomfortable conversations.

S3 was too over the top with the russian base indeed, but what killed it for me the most is that they're no longer kids and instead teenagers now. Worse, early teenagers. Who would want to revisit that period? Get outta here

Just now, Beck said: I installed BF3 the other day as I'm not a fan of BFV's TTK changes and I really miss BF3. Game kept crashing or failing to connect to servers or something sadly. Need to investigate it I think.

    Is BC2 still populated?

Seems like there's a small group of people playing it on and off. I'm mostly interested in the Vietnam component. Depends on the day, really. I wonder when DICE is gonna make a proper Vietnam BF.

"According to Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, their main platform is Mobile after the success of Call of Duty: Mobile. During Activision-Blizzard’s recent quarterly financial call, Kotick mentioned the rapid growth and revenue opportunities of mobile and the company intends to expand on the platform. There are apparently several Call of Duty projects in the works right now, on top of multiple mobile titles which include a potential Crash Bandicoot runner. Call of Duty: Mobile is available on iOS and Android now.

“Using Call of Duty as an example, with the introduction of Call of Duty: Mobile, we grew our player base from 40 million to 100 million players in less than a year,” said Bobby Kotick. “And we expect significant growth in the Call of Duty franchise in 2020 as compared to 2019, as a result of this and from other unannounced Call of Duty initiatives. Mobile, in fact, is now our leading platform. The business model for Call of Duty Mobile is free to play, which enables the rapid development of large community of players with the option to purchase digital items and services, as well as our ability to generate advertising revenues.” "

Yeah, it looks like they are pretty nicely spaced out and almost entirely unique. You should make the roads not only distinct in texture, but also size. If you're gonna have the main asphalt road go through the town, have that one be the widest, while secondary dirt and third types of roads get increasingly narrower. Good job on making the turns round. It looks pretty fluid overall. There's also a clear distinction between the map areas through the biomes, so that should help a lot with orientation.

Edit* maybe would be worth making the hydroelectric power plant into a major location as well? so you can better triangulate between them. Then you'd have smaller ones as buffer between.
