Well, the cable is annoying, but I've never gotten to the point of it tangling and me falling lmao

I think a big reason as to why it gives off Portal 2 vibes more than Half-Life is due to the constant dialogue between Alyx and Russel which is similar to Wheatley/GLaDOS in the sense that there's always someone talking to you throughout the entire journey. For me, this duo dynamic felt more similar to Firewatch's Henry and Delilah.
Another thing that plays into that Portal 2 feeling is the use of music, especially the dynamic aspect of it. Half-Life has always been similar to something like Samurai Jack, where you have long moments of background noise being punctuated by music at key intervals. Of course, the fact that Kelly Bailey hasn't worked on this was heard throughout. Music definitely feels more Portal 2-like, with a clear contrast when they use the old hl tracks now and then.
However, I would say it made up for those aspects with the more horror-like experience and macabre depictions of Xen and combine. That was very much in line to what we've seen in previous Half-Life games, maybe even more than in HL2.
But deep down we all know what it was truly missing...

I managed to get the following in that order:
Pistol - 1. Reflex Sight (10), 3. Burst Fire (20), 6. Bullet Reservoir (30)
Shotgun - 2. Autoloader (30), 4. Grenade Launcher (40)
SMG - 7. Reflex Sight (15), 5. Extended Magazine (30)
So that's... 175 resin that I collected

Wireless would be a significant step forward to increasing comfort and making it more appealing to people. I can live with blurry image as long as I don't have to battle with the cable

A damn fine game so far! They've gone beyond my expectations. And it's going to give hl2 modders so many ideas to work with.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't suck. Let's say it's a bit of a different take similar to how Doom 3 was.

Alright, so now that I've gone through it, beginning to end, I have to say... it was rather tedious at times. I started on Nightmare, went down to Ultra-Violence and halfway through the game picked Hurt Me Plenty because some of the fights started to become a literal nightmare to get through. There were some arenas were I kept on dying and I did appreciate the challenge at first, but it got ridiculous to the point where you had to perfectly position, do the kill combos and use the right weapons in order to survive. It's definitely an interesting take with the expanded glory kills, but the focus of the game has shifted way too much on the resource management and playing it a certain way. And I absolutely hate that you can't just shoot enemies to death - you can, but you can't survive without those resources they drop otherwise.
I thought the level design was alright for most of the part, but wasn't a fan of the platforming, especially in the later levels. The jumping bits in the alien world were just atrocious - and this really made me appreciate Xen even more. Other than that, environments were super well done with a lot more variety than 2016 and I liked the expanded lore as well. I don't normally read these collected notes in games, but I enjoyed these for a change. I also didn't mind the cutscenes. They were pretty brief and longest were probably in the beginning. The music and overall sound are pretty much flawless.
Overall, it's an alright game, with some definitely awesome moments, but if you're expecting a classic fps experience then you're going to be disappointed. That's why I recommend you play DUSK instead.
