I've finally got around to playing this from all of the steam games I bought over xmas. I'm not all too far in to it but the environments, game world and level of detail are visually mind blowing and for any cyberpunk fan, this has to be a must just for the environment porn.
I'm not really liking the combat too much, it feels very similar to Batman, with an extra level of combo customisation that I don't really feel is necessary. I found it quite confusing and not very intuitive.
It's much more linear than I'd expect so far. I think I expected a bit more parkour and exploration and it feels very on rails with no player choices. The story is pretty awesome though, maybe a bit cut scene heavy but I'm enjoying it a lot.

Pretty much agree with you here Thrik. When I was doing job applications it was mostly just about closure rather than anything else. Get to know which options are still available so you never put all your eggs in one basket. I don't think it's too much to ask to just send out an automated e-mail when someone has read your application and all, it's definitely what I would do was I the employer in such situation.
Agree with this and what Thrik says. I'd rather get any response, no matter how short than no response at all. If you do have time to give feedback though, maybe even not at that moment but in the future, that would always be beneficial.

I won't say no, probably more beneficial for a programmer I'd expect. But in my limited experience as a level designer I've never come across anything like that really. I guess maths always helps?

- Play more games in my endless Steam library

I've bought a lot of random crap just because it was cheap, also bought a few games I've been waiting for buy for ages like Skyrim, Dishonoured, Remember Me and the Bioshock series. I'm going to power my way through them during lunchbreaks this year I think.

Endless Space is currently £6. I can highly recommend this, really enjoyed it.

Hacker Evolution for this vote.
I've mainly bought a lot of games which are £1.50 or £3.50 like Dishonoured and Skyrim. Even if I only play each game for about an hour, that's still better value for money than going to the cinema to see something I wasn't fussed about. That's how I'm justifying this sale

There isn't a lot I want that's been on sale though, maybe I already own everything.

Finally managed to do some proper map reading and meet up with all of my friends. We've raided all of the northern military bases and airstrips and headed far north in to the uncharted new areas of the map. It's really safe up there with a huge supply of food spawns.
We've all got full military gear and nicely modded m4s etc. If I die now I'll cry.
Quote from PuddyPlayed some yesterday but stopped after I found out that nothing respawns atm (which made scavenging extremely boring, as rotten bananas was the only thing you found).
I just logged in now to see if the server perhaps had restarted. The absolutely first thing I hear as the screen fades in is someone reloading an automatic rifle. D: Nope.avi
The rifle reloading sound is you btw. Happens every time I spawn too.

Also voted for brothers. It's the only one on the vote I don't own and I'll buy it if it wins.

Well i tend to believe that it's not because everyone else does it that this is something alright. I'm not throwing any discredit on the QA field of course, they are indeed especially needed. I also do not contest that you would learn a lot about the development of a video game and all the different fields of a production, adding on this the contacts you would make within a company. But still you got there Jord, of course in the end you would see the experience to be positive, but what for all the others QAs who didn't find any work afterwards.
For small studios, or medium sized ones hold by the balls by their publishers, i would understand temporary rolling contracts. What i find bad though is that big companies doing financially well don't think of another type of organisation for QA work, rather than actually selling to youngsters a hope to stay and the company name to be put on their resumes in exchange of unstable, low-paid jobs nobody in the dev team want to do. But if there is still people to accept, indeed they won't have any reasons to not continue doing it.
Like Nysuatro said, i would be more for an internship in the actual field you would want to work in, because you will do the real thing, with a low salary, but actual work; as bad as it sounds (and there i'm arguing for internships ughh).
Sorry for the rant

Oh yeh sure. I'd completely encourage people to do level design, art, programming etc to add to their portfolio whilst working in QA. There are a lot of people in QA and fresh University graduates competing for the same limited number of roles, I'm not saying time served in QA should automatically make you a developer.
An internship would be much better experience than a QA role, but QA is still very valuable experience in terms of understanding the development pipeline and seeing it from the other side. I think it's helped me understand the role of QA better. There is a surprising amount of animosity from some developers towards QA and vice versa and I think a lot of that could stem from not understanding what eachother does on a daily basis.
But different companies have different attitudes to hiring and career progress. Having QA experience probably isn't as relevant as it used to be but I don't think it hurts.

Is there something shameful for "removed name studio", considering their current financial situation, to offer 4 months insecure underpayed jobs to attract and use motivated youngsters into believing they'll get a full time position in their famous studios ?
Except if it is for nerve personnal interests which i would totally understand, please don't make mapcore becoming this

I don't think it's shameful on their part. It's not unusual practise for QA in the industry to be on temp contracts. I have quite a few friend's in QA at various companies in the UK and they're all on temp, rolling contracts.
QA is often seen as a proving ground for people leaving university or getting in to the industry and having been through it myself before landing my first dev role I'd say it was a valuable experience. I'd recommend doing QA to anyone trying to break in to the industry.

For 4 months I wouldn't bother leaving your full time job and relocating, really isn't worth it. From my experiences, QA are very expendable unfortunately.
Take a pass on this.
I don't know how others feel about this but, I'd still go up to meet them and go for the final interview stage, it'd be good experience for future interviews. If they offer you the job you can always turn it down or try to negotiate more money.
