As some of you may know, i'm starting my own furniture compagny, and i'm the worst of the worst when it comes to chose a name, so I started to take a look in a latin dictionnary, and ended up stealing names from the mythology :D

Anyway, I have a small poll with some of the name i've chosen, I would really appreciate if you could take the time to judge them.

    Here's the poll

Be aware i'm not looking for the typical 'RAVWOOD3000' name, I look for something more subtle that doesn't necessarily explain the product, I want a brand name, not a compagny name, if you see what I mean.

If you have some great ideas for a name, don't hesitate to make a proposition :)

Also btw, i've found the industrial building, and i'm busy with the bank to make it happen , moar info soon.

I think that's why ikea and its cheap furniture works so well, there are a lot more people moving from place to place nowadays as tenants, mostly for work, they still need furniture, but they can't move the oak norman wardrobe everywhere if like me you changed place 5 times in 7 years.

So what i did when i was living in england, is buying cheap ikea furniture like chairs and table, got an old couch someone gave me, built some shelves, and when i had to move, i left all the furniture on the street with a "free furniture, take what you need" sign.

So if you invest in an unique 2050 euros table, that's for it to stay, maybe instead of reasoning in terms of rich or poor, you could think of people who stay and people who move. Because there are also not so rich landlords who plan to stay for years, and maybe would be buying an unique furniture if the price is not prohibitive.

Yup good point, that's an argument to take into consideration when I will have to describe my perfect customer :) Also don't forget the fact that you still can dismount the whole furniture so nothing really prevent you for taking it with you.

More seriously, very rich people could buy your stuff. Not directly of course, but they'll hire someone to model their home since they can afford it. Please those professionals and you can expect to sell at premium because those guys won't matter, they're not the one actually paying, and the one paying don't care :)

:P Yeah that's a part of the plan actually, also I will make an offer in the website where you can hire a professional to build it up, I think it's important because some persons are really left handed :D

Also I can't aim the super rich either, because it's heavily based on the DIY trend, like, customize yourself your furniture, build it yourself etc, a really rich guy doesn't give a shit about that, he hires an interior designer, he hires a carpenter, then he pays them because he don't want to waste his time.

So if I could describe my perfect customer, it's probably the random guy, from 28 - 45 years or something like that, who like good quality furnitures, who wants something special in his home, but still doesn't have the money or want to pay a carpenter for that. You see a lot of people like that, instead of going to Ikea they go to some furnitures shop where they know they will find something different and that is not crap in terms of quality, they still buy it in flat packages and all, but it's better in terms of quality.

Another trend is the people who likes to differentiate themselves, I mean Ikea furnitures are nice and all, but everybody got the same furniture now, and some people don't like that, and with my system, they can now say "Hey look, I designed it by myself, I've choose the colors and the dimensions by myself, you won't find this piece of furniture anywhere else". People don't like when they have the same thing than their neighbors, they always want the most unique car, phone or whatever, they want to stand out in a good way, that's dumb I know, but it's how it works, better take advantage of that.

It looks awfully simple, but at the same time, there's stuff in terms of matter and form just impossible to do at home if you don't have the experience and the tools. Like that :

Sounds obvious, but maybe you should value your work with such designs that only a professional can achieve. Ikea in better like you said :)

That's the whole point :) , anyway selling cheap furniture isn't a good idea imo, first because you will get all of these annoying people with no money complaining about that 150€ shelve they just bought and how it's cheap in terms of quality (like if a shelf could be good quality at that price), secondly because you will earn a tiny profit out of it, thirdly because you don't get money from poor people, or it's really hard and then you have to compete with Ikea which is a terrible idea when you're starting out (even though I would love to compete with them in the future, because they are probably one of the most successfull companies in the world right now). But the whole point is, seek the money where it is, it's easier imo.

It's put in a flat package, so it's fine, but yeah I will have to work with FedEx/TNT/YouNameIt, also the shipping system is going to be a huge task because the customers will define the shipping date.

Last time i needed one, i found some old solid wood planks in the street, restored them and built myself one, not the prettiest one, although it has sentimental value now. Guess that must say something about my social class or something :D. Anyhow, good luck to you Ravage, wish this works !

That's a valid point, that's why I don't aim at that niche and want to aim the people who actually like nice furnitures (actually I find their shelves really expensive too, that's why you have to trick people by showing them something fucking nice and design, the price get's more bearable)

    Things like :

    [Blocked Image: http://www.poliform.it/ContentsFiles/Senzafine_img_123803(32).jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://www.rimadesio.it/backend/gallery/img_upload/img_prod_dettaglio/storage_system_cover_freestanding_01_bis.jpg][Blocked Image: http://www.rimadesio.it/backend/gallery/img_upload/img_prod_dettaglio/prodotti_self_01_1.jpg]

Not sure you can build that kind of stuff with planks and 50€ :P

But you are right on another thing, it's the sentimental value, the DIY thingy is skyrocketing these days, people love the feeling when they succesfully build a thing, that's why I like the concept where the furniture can be assembled by the customer himself, it's less expensive, and some people will enjoy it.

But anyway, if some of you have concerns about my project, it's the right moment :)

Nothing official yet but thx, and yeah kind of, but with a small twist, to make it simple I will sell bespoke designer furnitures on internet, you will have the possibility to customize everything, like the dimensions, colours, materials, items etc on the website itself, it will be something really easy to use. I will aim for a delivery period of 2 weeks, you can chose to assembly the furniture by your own, or charge someone to do it for you. It's like Ikea, but better :) , except the price tag but i'm not aiming for the same customer, i'm looking more for the people who like high quality furnitures with a great design, and can put some more money into it. That's the basic idea at least :P

https://tylko.com/ - That's probably my only competition atm, and my products will be completly different in terms of design and materials, i'm also aiming for a more large range of products than them atm, but I like the simplicity in their website and how easy it is to customize the products.

http://www.poliform.it/en-us/poliform - If you want an idea to what I aim for in terms of design and quality.

If fouls were so unsportive, the referee was supposed to punish it.

also constant fouling and hard game is one of the many tactics in many sports… have you ever heard of "the Jordan rules" adopted by Detroit when playing Chicago?

Where did you see I was whining, I was just saying that Italy probably won the match with their hands.

Well done calling it upon yourselves Belgians. And remember, you still put our Nutella on your waffles ?

Well that's quite true tho, seeing how many unsporting fouls they've done in one game.
