I thought about it, read the entire thread again and the best I could do was to submit it as news to the 3 biggest communities in the Benelux. Namely Gamer.nl, Insidegamer.nl and Tweakers.net. Let's hope that at least one of them runs it.

Which sites have threads about this game?

I already asked on Facebook, but is it posted on Reddit?

Do any Mapcoreans have contacts at gamesites?

Can we submit news at huge gamesites?

Is there a way for the Mapcore Steamgroup to promote it?

What about pirate fan sites? Any place which attracts fans of this theme?

Couldn't we do a feature article about the game for Mapcore and spread that?

In short, what can we do to help?

Haha, I found the problem. After re-installing Windows I decided to sort through my old files and make everything tidy. This resulted in me installing Q3Map2 in a directory outside the Quake 3 directory. That's apparently the problem because I now placed it in the Quake directory and tada, it works like a charm!

I realize now, that Quake 3 editing is pretty death and the chances of finding someone here are rather slim but still, I have to try!

I was forced to re-install my computer. Luckily I got everything up and running rather smoothly but there's one problem. I'm using GtkRadiant 1.4 in combination with Q3map2 and Q3Map2 Toolz. I can make new maps, load old maps, save and compile them. No problems. However, regardless of which compile option I choose, I get the result as shown below. Somehow the compiler is downsizing the textures. I say compiler because:

It's not the editor. Regardless which map I make or load, everything works fine. It's not the game. If I take old compiles or load the original maps. all is displayed normally. It's not the textures. Even vanilla textures show the same problem. It has to be a compiler issue. I reinstalled Q3map2 to no avail. I'm running out of ideas.

    And now, this happens!

You are spending an awful lot of time on toilets HP. I mean, you told us about your portable games (fit for toilet time) and now all these epiphany's you're having. Perhaps you should eat more fibers dude

Act 5 is a piece of art! I don't know what gave you impression I didn't like it? Perhaps I should have phrased myself better. I just meant to say that I would never play Diablo 3's original campaign mode again. As far as I know you can't play Act 5 in campaign mode? But I'm loving it in Adventure mode. It's goddamn beautiful. Kinda like Darksides 2 and the Kingdom of the Dead.

Euh I never said you didn't like it. I only quoted you on Act 5 as you said "What story? You can't play the new Act (campaign)" in order to find out if you saw Act 5 in Adventure Mode.

But when I got home tonight and booted it up and there was the Campaign Act 5. It is friggin gorgeous though. (definately not finished yet as I can still see the borders of the world.)

You can play the campaign? I must check this out NOW!

You know, I'm very glad when a family is blessed with a newborn. I truly am. But some people go way too far in their enthusiasm. It's fine that your happy and proud. I can understand that. But please, there is no need to shove this down my throat every single day. I had to block or remove people from Facebook because they were posting non stop updates. Oh he smiled, picked his nose, waved his hand, etc. My cousin even went so far as to make a Facebook page for her child. So that's 10 updates from her and 10 in his name by her again.

Having said that, I always wanted to be a father but after 2 years of trying (the fun way and the not so fun way) I was about to give up when we decided to make a last stand in the final option that remained to us (long story). It worked and today we received the news that everything is fine and we're about to become parents in 6 months (if all goes well). After telling my inner circle, guess what's the first thing I wanted to do? Write about it and post it. The fucking irony!

But no way this is going on Facebook or stuff like that. I'm not a hypocrite. So I thought I would share it with you guys. Which is funny, since I don't know most of you but I fell in love with this community and I enjoy the interactions I have with some of you. Anyway, Mapcore is ensured of a new member in the future and who knows, one day we'll see a feature or map from him/her.

    TLDR:

I knocked my wife up, about to be a dad, will be a new Mapcore member, fuck yeah!

Yeah I agree. It's really not something to be afraid of. Sure, some people might be overly harsh and just outright say it's shit. But then you have the challenge of taking all the feedback and improving your level to hopefully make it more fun and balanced.

I guess some people see negative feedback like they've done something "wrong"? People don't like being told off.

Getting feedback is one of my favourite parts of level design

Exactly. Sure, you'll have to filter through the bullshit but getting proper feedback is the best part. Seir gave me such good feedback in the WIP thread that I'm completely overhauling an entire map. Just because I'm so inspired by it.

I think the trick is not to take it personal. Even if it's blunt.
