I can vouch for the Head First C# book, very good.

If you just want to get up and going quick you could go to http://www.codecademy.com/ It'll teach you enough Javascript to use something like Unity3D, and get you doing some game programming.

I'm finishing Skyrim as we speak. I'm on 101 hours now and half way through the main quest. It goes really fast since I already explored and/or cleared every location they are sending me to. I think I'll end up at 105 hours, max 110. It's a lot of time but I had a blast.I installed the complete mod for Stalker: Call of Pripyat. After 100+ hours of RPG, it's time for a shooter

You're either gonna be happily surprised or very disappointed, STALKER is more of an RPG than Skyrim could ever hope to be.

I tried to cut the lines yesterday at PAX to see this in action and make my own mind up on this game, but couldn't go through. 2h30 waiting line for it, so clearly people are noticing it. In comparison (entirely different game), I was in and out of the line for Quantum Conundrum in 20 minutes.

Do you mind sharing your impression in the Quantum Conundrum thread??

Looks like they're going to change it. I haven't played it yet, but I don't really like the idea of going back and changing the ending.

If it has ironsights or quick time events I'm gonna flip.

I'll be extremely surprised if there's not irons in Doom 4.

Best of luck dude! And of course you can get a steel ball, just have it wrapped in silicone so that you don't get any issues with the metal.

I foresee a slew of awkward situations when traveling by air or entering government buildings however.

    Good luck man!

I'm a sucker for the AC games, and I think the change of period is gonna be awesome. However, instead of having that pussy wrist blade, I want a big ass tomahawk to flip out of your hand when you do stealth kills.

Doesn't much look like Rage to me, and I think pretty unlikely that Doom 4 will be a corridor shooter, so I guess it could be Doom.

Must be the new Commander Keen!

I really want this game to suck. Guild Wars took up so much of my time a few years back, I just didn't play any other games.

Bluerays are mint, you'll love it, not just for quality increase but for all the special features they pack onto it

Also, is it just me, or are they a bit more durable/scratch resistant?

Its not only about keeping up with pirates distribution, but refusing to lower the prices even when they do compete (with stuff like Netflix). Sure they have to pay for servers and bandwidth but that price is NOTHING compared to factories creating physical copies that you then have to ship to peoples homes. This is also true for steam. I remember when Steam was brand new and cheap as fuck. Don't get me wrong, there's A LOT of cheap games on steam, but Skyrim was actually 15€ (not $!) cheaper in my local store and that's not the only game with ridiculous online pricing. its almost like the only reason it was for sale on steam was so that they'd get the exposure there.

Netflix pricing and catalog lives and dies by the publishers, their main cost isn't in the rack space, but in the rights to stream those movies and shows. So again, Hollywood's inability to keep up. As far as the Steam thing goes, I can't wrap my head around why a game costs more in one country than another. Skyrim in the states was priced at the same as what you'd pay retail for the game ($59.99) except there was no sales tax.

    Why not jailbreak?

I recommend you all stomp on your iphones, and go get a Samsung Galaxy S2.

They can't do that because Apple won't let them have insurance!

I don´t think they loose 20-30% (or whatever the rate is) customers for not releasing the game on Steam... So the cost they don´t have to pay as royalties to Steam is now going straight in their own pockets, minus the loss of customers. All in all, I´m betting it nets them more money so I suppose it actually makes sense and is "fair" in a way. You get all the money for the effort, Steam gets none.

There is, however, the cost of developing and supporting Origin.

At least for now, my guess is they're probably netting the same amount they would if their games were on Steam, except now they have more control over there products, and can collect better data on their customers.
