I picked the same ending for the same reasons. And yeah, the deserted planet crash is a big WTF. I'm not sure if you have to powergame the multiplayer to get the "best" ending. Did your end cutscene hint at Shepard's survival (by a person in N7 armour waking up in some rubble)?

Concerning the reaper's motives, I wouldn't object to leaving them unknown, or vague, as long as the ending wrapped up everything else nicely (including the reapers demise). Ramblings about chaos and order doesn't really explain anything though, as you mentioned.

But don't try to make sense of it. It only hurts. Just forget the whole ordeal and wait for BioWare to retcon this whole clusterfuck in a DLC.

Nope. I think the only quest I missed was the Eden Prime one, though Minos is still blinking as if I have stuff to do and I'm not sure why. I don't really care about doing it 100% now, though.

Honestly, I was expecting a cop-out ending but not this bad. I suspected there would be a force above the Reapers that wants to stop advancement beyond a galaxy level, so the Reapers are trying to 'save' you by knocking civilisations back to the stone-age every once in a while. The higher threat would be left with an unfulfilling it’s-turtles-all-the-way-down explanation but it would at least provide closure to current plot elements.

I'm done too. When I was 95% through the game I was soooo ready to shell out for the day 1 DLC, but now this universe is dead to me until this mess gets cleaned up.

As for the reaper/grander power plot, I would've liked any ending to focus on the reapers and I would've preferred to have certain aspects of their nature remain a mystery (including a possible force "above" the reapers). The reapers are the "grander" force in the story, and describing their exact purpose in great detail would ruin their unearthly, alien "image". I also would have liked Tali/Mordin/Liara and other intelligent squadmembers/characters to speculate more openly about the reapers motives towards/after the end. In which case the reapers wouldn't be explained fully but there would be enough food for thought to keep things from being dickishly vague.

But... eh... I don't know. All I know for certain is that the current ending is horseshit.

People are holding out for Shepard being indoctrinated during the third game, which explains why he sees those dream sequences. Although it is completely at odds with everything else he did everything up to the “activate crap ending” switch and the third-person flashforwards, but supposedly Bioware are hinting on Twitter the DLC will change things. Not sure if want.

The indoctrination theory is only applicable to the very end of the game (about right after you went through the energy beam). It's a load of crap though and it's just a way for fans to escape the reality of the shitty ending.

I seriously think that retconning the entire ending is a possibility. And I hope it happens.

Also, I just have to mention that the guy quoted in this post elegantly details what the fuck is wrong with the ending, it's an interesting read!

But surely the theory needs those dream sequences, which start very early into the game, to have a leg to stand on? Saying you're indoctrinated just for the part Bioware drop the ball is massively contrived.

Agreed, that post is really good.

I still haven't played this but did you guys seriously expect a good ending after the stupidest ending ever on a videogame (Mass Effect 2)?

The final mission was disproportionately small compared to the rest of the game and it was a pretty standard, albeit appreciated, ending... but stupid? Why?

    I liked it.

In any case, you ain't seen nothing yet. Have you played DX:HR btw?

It moved like a retard, and it's appearance was perhaps a bit too similar to a T800 (

), but overall I didn't have any problems with it. How so?

Oh well, I enjoyed everything leading up to it though. They really sunk a lot of money into the branching and character animation.

HP / Minos: What was so godawful about the me2-ending/robot btw?

    Lmao so true.

ME2 was awesome leading up to it though, and ME3 is awesome so far.

And scroll up a bit HP for Bioware's official statement (on which the article is based).

While I wish it was so well JakeGilla... the statement has to be interpreted as an indication that they intend to "tweak" the ending. Same ending, just that "they'll explain things better". So, no complete overhaul incoming.
