I think it's also another example of how the games industry has gone the way of the movie industry. Big studios are afraid to make new IPs because of the inherent risk that comes with it, and they also seem to be incapable of such a task, which reinforces the first point. How do you combat this? Make (very) shitty additions to the series or remake the one that had massive success in hopes to have that success again.

Dead Space was fucking brilliant and it's still available for everyone to experience ($4.99 on Steam btw). Remaking it to try and re-capture everything it brought to the table back in 08' with current gen specs, from a gamers POV, I don't see that point.

@FMPONEFor those who've yet to play it, I'm sure it'll be a good time. But as someone who's played the original, I can't help but scratch my head and ask why. I also don't want another gem of a game having its reputation ruined over a decade after its release because company xyz wanted to boost their profit margins.

I played a bit of bioshock 2 but it not being developed by Irrational and me being unable to play the game for sometime like many others on Steam, I basically passed on it.

I thought Infinite was going to be another game changer for me like Bioshock was, but after playing 4 or 5 hours, I still could not get into it. I never bothered finishing it. I don't know what happened in the time between gameplay demos and release, but looking at those original gameplay demos they showed, the released product took a huge nosedive in overall quality. Honestly, they don't even seem like the same game.

As for the business side, I took a creature design class under Anthony Jones and the topic came up. He basically said Irrational failed because they were keen on hiring friends instead of people who would get the job done. Regardless, the first Bioshock is legendary and the team that was apart of that should be damn proud.

Arkane has this innate ability as developers to create absolutely beautiful games with gameplay depth that is rarely seen these days and they still somehow remain in their own niche of unique games that go unnoticed by the masses, while garnering a cult following for each release. Hopefully this is another quality work by the team and they actually see a return for their efforts.

China's pretty much there with big tech here in the US following in their footsteps. 9 more years until Denton arrives and saves us all.
