The entire game is a meme and a prophecy

PSA: re-installed it yesterday, currently arriving at Battery Park
(The steam GOTY edition is smoothly and perfectly playable in "vanilla" edition without any mods; just make sure to select "OpenGL" as renderer, and set colors to 32bit, otherwise you might have overly dark environment if D3D is selected, as well as random stutter and fps dips if 16bit is selected)

I never played ? I bought the first in the new series but still haven’t installed it
-
@blackdog Install it now and play

I started a new playthrough few weeks ago as well hehe, I've just gone part Paris cemetery. I can recommend this: http://www.kentie.net/article/dxguide/
The GOTY version is perfectly playable but broken in a few ways compared to the retail version, nothing you will really notice without direct comparison, though.

I've read about Kentie launcher and GMDX mod and their improvements, but I wanted to go full vanilla.
So far, the only thing I noticed is some minor flickering textures but nothing game breaking.

He'll eventually play it, with some encouragement.

Yeah I need to get back on the PC, thing is the rare times I play I’m doing it on the PS4 for convenience (and I already built a back catalog there too).
When i sit at the PC I’m only doing job applications or sorting family stuff.
I still haven’t even finished Arcane Dimensions for Quake!! ?

Finished my playthrough: still a masterpiece and even more relevant today than it was years before.
Thinking of re-installing Invisible War; yes they dumbed it down for consoles and it lost many of the first game features/mechanics, but Alex Denton deserves a second chance, a new perspective maybe after all these years (played the retail version when it came out in 2003 and never touched it again)

Warren Spector alone didn't make DX1 by himself tho. I think the dream for me would be to bring Spector in sure, but Harvey Smith with his experience with Dishonored, Sheldon J. Pacotti and Austin Grossman amazing writing skills and Viktor Antonov directing the art, and i'd love to see how Alexander Brandon would reenvision this universe 2 decades later, with his synth heavy musical tracks.
Maybe Bethesda should buy the ip and give it to arkane?! The decision to have the DX:MD team make an Avengers game was such a weird one... Maybe they can go back to DX now.
This interview with Pacotti was great

Let's hope the upcoming System Shock 3 delivers and gives him a boost to dive again (he's not getting younger though)

I agree, but I see Spector as an orchestra conductor that glues the whole thing together with his vision and direction
