Trying to see how well I can isolate a subject without it being extremely obvious and boring. There's a ton of photos at architecture of doom that do this brilliantly, be sweet to get to the point where I could compose such images. For now though, I'm having a blast with this stuff. Lots to learn, it's awesome.

I showed my dad the first gameplay trailer last night after his nightly marathon of Walking Dead. He called up walmart to see how much a ps4 was and if they had the game in stock. He'll have to settle for a ps3 to play it but still, I thought it was hilarious how sold he was after watching that trailer.

Falling waaay behind my desired 10 per day quota... Lucky if I get a couple done a night, clearly I'm still over thinking this but I think I'm getting better at that the more I do?

Forgot about that site, Minos! You're right about the composition tweaks, it's kinda difficult trying to figure out the functionality of the camera and keeping focused on getting a cool shot with nice composition. At least at the moment. Once I get more comfortable with the camera and photography in general, I think I'll be able to focus primarily on the fundamentals, I'm excited to see how snapping pidders will change my way of thinking about composition.

good site, I think about half of what I know actually comes from Digital Rev, awesome channel https://www.youtube.com/user/DigitalRevCom

most importantly, they make it fun

Awesome channel! Those dudes had me laughing hysterically and I'm still learning awesome shiz.

How often do you guys post process stuff in photoshop or lightroom? Obviously it's case by case, and certain aspects can only be achieved by some post work, but I'm curious as to how much thought some of you put into this. What about using lens filters? Is there specific reasons for going with a filter as opposed to tweaking the image for the same effect?

Art direction looks like a step forward I think. Last Halo I played was the beta multiplayer of Halo 3 at a friend's house, so I can't say I'm really fatigued of the series. Interested in seeing how this evolves.

Nice brah, nice. The area of the river closest to the main structure feels a lot closer than the rest of the river does (almost feels like it's at the same distance as the bridge), I think tweaking the values a bit lighter around that portion of the river might help give it some more depth? Also, some of the forms, specifically the cylindrical portions around the steps and door, read fairly flat.

Overall though, awesome stuff, especially for a quick lunch sketch. Good jod dude!

I struggle to ride a train and you've had a rollercoaster of a time... ugh. I sure do feel a bit dopey. Are things a bit better now for you? Well, I was bullied out of school at a young age, I'm sure that didn't help me very much (Being fat didn't help me, that's why I got in the shape I am now. People don't even recognise me). And yes, I have hated myself for a long time, my physical and emotional state: for not being strong enough, for not being attractive enough... Everytime I've tried to get ontop of this and be positive about myself, something has always comes along to knock my fragile confidence down a peg and I have to start over again. But at least I've gotten really good at building myself back up again, I just need to learn not to get knocked down in the first place

Yeah man, everything's on the right track now as far as the house goes, it took a bit of a battle with the insurance company (go with an adjuster if your house ever burns down btw!!! Oh yeah, get home owners insurance too! I would be completely screwed without insurance or an adjuster) but they've cut the checks for all the items lost and the house, which has been torn down and the construction company we've gone with (recommended by the adjuster, again, go with an adjuster if this happens to you) should start framing the house soon. Hopefully it's no longer than 4 months to rebuild, gonna cost the insurance company $300k+ once it's all said and done, just for the house. So the worst part of all of these events is over for me, now it's just a matter of time.

Don't feel dopey bro, depression and fear that cripples you from doing what you want to do, even simply tasks like riding a train or going to the store for crap you need, it's sucks big time. I was so full of self hatred, many of the things you mentioned (thinking I'm not attractive enough or strong enough etc) constantly haunted my thoughts when I was in public. I couldn't just be the awesome person that I am because the voices that screamed lies into my heart day and night were all I heard, especially in a social setting.

But that's the thing... they're lies. They aren't true so why should I give a lie any power over how I feel, especially if they're preventing me from being who I am and who I was made to be? Again, I don't want to turn this discussion into anything other than what we're all going through, good or bad, but the lies are silenced when I remember who made me and why He made me. Anyone who's curious or has no idea what I'm talking about, feel free to pm me or something. The main point I want to get across to dux and anyone else who can relate, the majority of what's keeping you in the dark place you live in is most likely because you're believing lies. The world seems to have an infinite amount of knowledge when it comes to breaking people and making them think they're less than human, be it through bulling, abuse, neglect, perversion, etc. Our brokenness points to something beyond ourselves and so does the cure.

Skjalg makes a very good point in stepping back and really examining your life to see if your thoughts are reflecting the way things actually are as opposed to how you think they are. When you're in the complete blackness of depression though, this is a seemingly impossible task. However, once you're out of it, this is a very wise thing to do and one way to ensure you don't find yourself walking down a path you shouldn't be going.

I think that looks really nice Bunglo, and I admire your attitude towards drawing. When I end up drawing something that is garbage, I feel demotivated. Having read your post, I think I've been missing the point. If I enjoy doing it, it doesn't matter if what I've come out with is shite!

Yeah man, I get that way with my game art stuff but after drawing for the past week or so, I realize that I simply forgot that I used to take my time until I got the results I wanted with an asset or whatever. That's when I enjoyed making art the most, when I took my time and kept iterating until I was happy with it.

I think it largely comes from the fact that with game art I have the goal of getting my foot in the door, the quicker I make game art, the quicker I reach my goal. Art doesn't work like that though, the happier I am while making it and the more patience I allow myself to have on each piece is what tends to get me the results I'm looking for, which in turn gives me more satisfaction and makes me want to do more art!

If we can remember that we're doing all this because we enjoy it and leave all that other stuff at the door that tends to get in the way, it can only make us better artist I think.

Ha no, not using a mouse, gots me a wacom.

I'll be honest here, I was obsessed with getting it as close to the reference as possible to help train my eye but still, shouldn't have taken me as long as it did. I found myself redoing the majority of my strokes, one after another, simply because I was extremely tired for over half the life of the drawing. It was me not observing as well as I should have been.

I'm trying to stay zoomed out for the majority of the drawings unless I need to zoom in to see details on the face or something. I'm also trying to keep my strokes broad and "confident" (e.g. not squiggly), seems like they go quicker that way, and they turn out better.

What ever advice you got I'll take, anything that might help me improve is appreciated.
