Magic the gathering: Duels of the planeswalkers was pretty fun so I can definitely see this one happening.

Battleforge also was semi-successful (at least profitable, just a small market); although it was a hybrid of RTS- TCG.

I'll see where this one goes

I guess the best thing you can do is to ask around for what questions you're gonna get. I haven't interviewed a whole lot of people and my questions are level design focused so they might not be the most useful to you... (I'll add some generic examples later)

I mainly split my questions up in work processes, teamwork, social skills, your motivations (getting to know you) etc. Your answers have to make me wanna work with you so don't be too uptight about it

Some more generic questions we asked:

    - Do you recall friction in your last team, how did you resolve it?

    - How was communication handled in your last team, did you collaborate a lot or were teams split up?

But I also ask really simple ones at the start, what kind of games do you like? What is it you like about them, etc.

I ask most of my questions to get some specific information out of the interviewee but a lot of them are open for interpretation as well, just to get the interviewee to open up and talk. Those questions don't really have any "right" answers. One of the most important things you wanna get out of an interviewee is to see if he/she fits into your team (every team works differently, has different values); and this has nothing to with how good a person is at what he does, just HOW he is used to accomplish that work.

@Seir You're still gonna get questions about how you deal with budgets and stuff. But I suppose if it's an open ended discussion then I agree, that's the best course indeed.

Not that surprising TBH, you can't solely blame it on him, but the trend of the last year or so has been that EA's games have under performed both in reviews and commercially, doubt shareholders are too happy about that. Even back with SWTOR, which was a big gamble that didn't pay out I expected it to have repercussions on Richitello.

Would be pretty great if Peter Moore steps up as the new CEO, always liked him (Dreamcast all the way baby!).

For what metacritic is worth: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/game-p…r-2012-releases

There's just a lot of badmouthing going on but what's new, shit's always the stuff that sticks the longest. You barely hear a single positive thing about EA anymore so no surprise people forget about those things immediately. I won't say it's completely undeserved but EA sure has been the scapegoat lately. Not entirely sure of the impact SWTOR had but that probably must've been a huge downer indeed, amongst others (warfighter, although I've heard it still sold somewhat decently).

I don't know much about shareholders, finances and commercial success and all that since it doesn't really concern me first-hand but from the little I've picked up I think he did a great job given the circumstances. The climate has been pretty tough the last few years but he did a great job in the change and brought in a lot of digital revenue like he said he would. I hope someone capable takes his place. I definitely think he's brought an improvement to EA. EA from before his era wasn't exactly spectacular...

He was on that rumored list of CEO's to get fired in 2013 so I definitely saw this one coming, probably was a lot of pressure from the board.

Lol wtf so fake hahahaha xD Why didn't they pick a better actor? Unless they wanted it to sound fake-Swedish

Hope they disclose more information at GDC but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't show much then either even though they said they would.

“The servers are not handling any of the computation done to simulate the city you are playing. They are still acting as servers, doing some amount of computation to route messages of various types between both players and cities. As well, they’re doing cloud storage of save games, interfacing with Origin, and all of that. But for the game itself? No, they’re not doing anything. I have no idea why they’re claiming otherwise. It’s possible that Bradshaw misunderstood or was misinformed, but otherwise I’m clueless.”

Explains the shitty AI. I really hope they can improve it in the coming patches. Wasn't that the whole point of games becoming "services"? Ongoing patchwork, content, etc.

I think communication is crucial for this game, however... There doesn't seem to be good tools in place for that :/

Yup Minos, I'm the guy next to you with the university. I've built it since I have such a high population (still need more students for a 2nd upgrade though :/ 2k is a lot). So I'm not exactly sure but it could still pay off if you built a university and built a school of engineering upgrade for it (I've got science), or whatever different school you want.

And I can't upgrade my City Hall anymore, no space... So if anyone wants to build the other ones, please do

Wtf sustaining a big city is nearly impossible without help of other cities... seriously it feels kind of broken 4 big water plant thingies, 2 sewage waste, 2 recycle centers (with 8 truck upgrades), 2 thrash whatever it's called (again with 8 truck upgrades). AND ITS NOT ENOUGH. My city is going under because of all this garbage, germs everywhere ground pollution slowly killing downtown. Geez guys, stop consuming shit!

Thank god I'm buying energy from Minos cos I can't sustain myself with my "green energy" supply either. Yup, you want a skyscraper city? Better collaborate with some buddies!

Oh yeah, not sure about the students you're sending to my city but I hope they don't come home all sick n shit

Btw guys, I'm researching the solar plant upgrade for the big works, that should help us out with clean energy.

True, it's definitely pretty But this has to account for something as well, right? xD Trying to cram as much in there as possible, skyscrapers ftw.

It's getting pretty hard though :/

Seems like there's a bug with recycle centers though, they claim there's nothing to recycle... So now my city is going down under all that ground pollution since nothing gets picked up :s Apparently it's a quite common bug.

Played 5h straight now, totally loving it But I'm not the kind of guy to challenge myself and play multiple cities so I'll see how long I'll keep on playing.

Getting skyscrapers is way easier in this game!

And finished it (Mistborn: The Final Empire). Very good read! The start was a bit slow and here and there there's some slow chapters (can't make my mind up if I would've liked the book more if the whole thing had a higher pace but whatever), in the end... I really liked it and that's what matters

Gonna go to the store to grab book 2 soon!

I thought IT had a lot of control regarding network traffic... Are you really anonymous from a company network? There's a timestamp on the post, and he/she said he/she is an artist, could be enough info...?

It'd be ridiculous to fire someone over that though.

"i'm an empowered woman but i need this much makeup or i'll look ugly in front of my viewers!!!"

i had some good laughs though, this is funny.

Where did you find those comments? People say stupid shit indeed. There's no denying there's a fact behind what she says. It's sad people still don't want to acknowledge it and low blow her. If someone doesn't say it then shit like Hitman: Absolution happens. No offense to the people that worked on that game, levels were great but those characters... holy damn.

This is so trivial. I mean she has a good point about the tropes being overused. But is this really a feminist issue and not just simply a creative one? Meanwhile women in Afghanistan or Africa or wherever get their lady bits chopped off or get murdered because they want to get an education.

Is there such a thing as fluffy feel good feminism? Because her topics sure feel like it.

I kind of agree on some point but I feel just because it's less devastating it doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be heard. Pop media reaches way more people and is easier to raise awareness off compared to the scenario's you describe, sadly.

So I have to be their customer and then either be punished by their DRM or have to go and risk torrenting software in order to avoid that punishment? This is not okay.

No it's not okay, nor did I say that? I'm just saying the damage has been done and you don't have a whole lot of options if you don't wanna be a dick about it. Sad as it is.

If you torrent and play a game you obviously like it and the devs deserve support, sadly you'll also send a message to the publishers that regardless of the DRM you still buy it, even so... I don't think it's fine to just pirate and backstab the developers for a choice they likely weren't involved in. But oh well, such is life in video game dev.

So no, you don't have to be their customer. If you wanna boycott them then just don't buy it but don't go pirating it either, simple as that really. If you wanna be a lost sale then be one. Don't be a hypocrite and play it anyways. But that's just my opinion and I'm sure there's different ways of looking at it.

The irony is that the only reason that online DRM exists is to discourage pirating. But I suppose they inadvertently cause it to increase (although I haven't really seen any statistics about it). They piss on their legitimate customers, simple as that.

I'll tolerate SimCity's DRM though since their game seems to be set up more like an MMO, which is a stupid design choice, I'd rather have it be offline entirely.

(Apparently the cities are small to encourage playing together with other people in the district. But I don't have any friends, lolololol. Yeah, not liking the social focus of the game.).
