Source engine looks fantastic, it's the tools that are outdated and crappy. For a company with such a strong mod following that's a dammed shame.

That's an enormous amount of work you got there surgeon, but what you have done looks good. Also /3/ had this as a group project where different members would do different parts of that scene and then they would all combine their work, still took em months to do. Here it is http://boards.4chan.org/3/res/195694#195694

Anyway I somewhat finished bunglo's fountain tutorial (liked the fountain better as new instead of weathered):

Tried playing games on a tube tv with my ps3, was fucking aweful. Luckily my pc monitor has 2 imputs, one of them DVI-D, and ps3 allows audio over the AV output.

Yeah, by tweaking files without an interface. Both things that Crytek would have to work on, first testing the impact of all changes (debug time) and by creating the menu and interface specifically for the PC version, which would have required additional UI work, debug and translation. In other words, at least two weeks worth of a dozen's people work.

He did have a visual interface, in fact that was the whole point, you did not have to type in console commands or add commands string in the short-cut.

Regardless, Crysis 2 provided less in terms of PC customization then the first game, and most other games on the market. And if I remember correctly the first sold very well and it's the money from PC gamers that allowed crytek to expand and fund their endeavour on the consoles.

I love the technical explanations behind the decisions, they give much better insight in to the how and why's. It's a shame a lot of the devs do not come out and say it themselves.

To Furyo why is the 2011 PC market so much worse then it was in 2007. It was my understanding that over the years the PC market did not shrink, it expanded just not as rapidly as the console market did because they could target the casual crowd much better due to the lower cost and simplicity. And as far as I know the cost of making a AAA game in 2011 are the same as in 2007 for multiplats since consoles have not changed. So by all accounts all the major platforms including the PC are more profitable now then they were in 2007. It doesn't make sense to skip so much on the PC port, it's destroying your well respected brand for a few weeks of work.

As much as I dislike some of the choices with the graphics in this game, it's still very big and very open. In Crysis you could go all the way up a mountain which meant diddly squat for any practical combat purpose, here there is still a lot of room for manoeuvring, and in all practical sense the game is as open as it's predecessor. And I like the city more because it has more objects you can use in combat and clearer spots for hiding. What I do miss though is hopping on shacks and breaking them apart.

I also don't understand why crytek never bothered to take a more hublike approach like zelda for example. There are so many well crafted and beautiful areas it's shame you will only see them once, and you won't ever find any hidden depth to them or come back and suddenly see all kinds of amazing possibilities a new power has given you.

Also like it was said earlier the AI seems broken and spots you very quickly.

Dutch members can get the game for 29,- oiros from http://www.game-card.net/crysis-2

Maybe it will also work for foreigners, since it's an EA downloader version.

Everything so far points to the game offering the exact same fucking thing I've been doing the last few years in fps games, which is shooting terrirst as a muhreen. With no situation requiring anything more then point and clicking, now cowadoody can somewhat get away with it because it's not about the boring nitgritties of everyday combat and more about playing epic music while zooming in and out of 3D GPS-maps with lots of intel flashing by, narrated by some bitter cigar-and-whisky-general, constantly jumping all over the word, and providing crazy scenarios to keep it fresh and interesting.

While this is going to be just realistic enough not to provide any of that, yet not realistic enough to provide me with enough interesting variables because that would scare away casuals.

Hope the MP as arcady as fuck and I get to do all the fun shit I did in BF2.

To make the app posted earlier disable blur and such properly you have to manually open the CFG it creates and cut/paste the sys_spec options before the other ones.

    I went from this
